Boys basketball: Another record night for Chartiers-Houston

A.J. Myers scored 30 points and Chartiers-Houston set a regular season record for wins in a season as the Bucs defeated Hopewell, 68-47, in a non-section game.

Cam Hanley added 26 points for the Bucs, who improved to 18-4.

Tyler Sabo and Josh Mickles had 12 points each for Hopewell (3-19).

Avonworth 80, Fort Cherry 54: Jake Harper led a balanced scoring attack with 21 points as Avonworth jumped out to a 47-18 halftime lead on Fort Cherry in an 80-54 non-section win over the Rangers.

Garrett Day and Michael Noerthiger added 17 points each, while Matt Crilley had 15 for the Antelopes (14-8).

Ryhan Culberson led Fort Cherry (15-7) with 28 points, while Chad Collussy had 13.

Springdale 59, Avella 56: Springdale took advantage of 17 Avella turnovers on the way to a 59-56 win in a non-section game.

Avella pulled to within one in the final minute but the Eagles failure at the free throw line, seven of 16. Kevin Painter scored 16 points, Garrett Geresti 13 and Shawn Willard 11 for the Eagles (6-16).

Sam Carey scored 21 points and Mike Zolnierczyk 16 for the Dynamos (12-10), who made 18 of 23 free throws.

California 52, West Greene 37: Johnny DeFranco scored a career high 22 points to power California to a 52-37 victory over West Greene in a non-section game.

California (19-3) held West Greene to six points in each of the middle two quarters.

Kolton Rush led West Greene (13-7) with 17 points.
