Wild Things extend Bums’ losing streak

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Kyle Reese homered and Bralin Jackson hit a two-run double during Washington’s three-run eighth inning and the Wild Things defeated the Traverse City Beach Bums 4-1 Wednesday night.

Washington, which currently holds the final Frontier League wild-card spot, sent Traverse City to its 11th consecutive loss.

The Wild Things had four pitchers combine on a five-hitter. Starter Brian O’Keefe left after four shutout innings and reliever Trevor Bradley (2-0) followed with three scoreless innings. Bradley gave up only one hit. Zach Streker got the final four outs for his 16th save.

Washington took a 1-0 lead in the third when Rashad Brown’s two-out single off Traverse City starter Brian Bayliss (0-4) scored Kenny Peoples-Walls.

Reese hit his fourth home run of the season, a solo shot over the right-field wall, with one out in the eighth to make it 2-0. The home run came after a 10-pitch at-bat by Peoples-Walls that resulted in a flyout.

Before the inning would end, Brown was hit by a pitch and Kane Sweeney drew a walk. A double steal put both runners in scoring position for Jackson, whose double pushed Washington’s lead to 4-0.

The Beach Bums scored their lone run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly.
