Burglary charges: Briar David Jones, 22, of 458 Fords Hill Road, Grindstone, was charged by state police with burglary, possessing instruments of crime, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief after he allegedly broke into the Dilliner 9-to-9 convenience store at 2313 S. Eighty Eight Road and stole items early Friday morning. Police said they saw Jones’ truck pulled over in the area and watched Jones force his way into the store about 2:30 a.m. Police said he stole five cartons of cigarettes and a bottle of Mountain Dew. Police said they suspect Jones was involved in a rash of recent burglaries in Greene, Washington, Fayette and Westmoreland counties.
Criminal mischief: State police said someone went to the property of Shaka Inc. at 588 W. High St. in Franklin Township and drained eight containers of 2,000 gallons of an epoxy chemical onto the ground between Aug. 30 and Sept. 7. Police said the person also cut four bags of anti-skid material, spilling about 500 pounds of it.
