Police Beat Oct. 7
Assault charge: James Francis Sasson III, 55, of 205 Quarry St., Bentleyville, was charged by Bentleyville police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly assaulted his neighbor Wednesday. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Counterfeit money: North Franklin police said a counterfeit $100 bill was passed Sept. 30 at 7-Eleven, 1360 W. Chestnut St.
Endangerment charge: Donald Boyan, 50, of 982 Linden Road, Eighty Four, was charged last week in a summons sent from the office of District Judge Jay Weller with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and harassment. He is accused of firing shots at gas well workers who had been on property at the rear of his home in the early morning hours of Sept. 17, North Strabane police said. He had called police an hour earlier to complain and was told not to confront the workers.
Charged in crash: Morgan E. Coulter, 23, of 1400 Park Place, North Strabane, was charged this week by North Strabane police with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid in connection with a Sept. 22 crash at the intersection of Racetrack Road and Meadow Drive. She is accused of hitting another vehicle and then leaving the scene. Police later found her disabled vehicle in a nearby lot. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Home improvement fraud alleged: Homer H. Thomas Jr., 38, of 301 Cricketwood Court, Canonsburg, was charged this week by South Strabane police with theft by deception, home improvement fraud and deceptive business practices. He is accused of taking $3,000 from the owner of a Balsam Drive home for work on a poolside patio and walk earlier this year, but never completing the work or returning the money. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Charged in stop: Tara Suellen Whiteman, 36, of 2894 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was charged this week by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and throwing waste on the highway stemming from an Aug. 10 traffic stop on Interstate 79 near the Meadow Lands exit, South Strabane. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Truck burns: A pickup truck and trailer owned by Richard Toole of Albuquerque, N.M., burned early Thursday in the parking lot of Trinity Point, South Strabane police said. Toole told police he was driving on Interstate 70 when a tire blew on the trailer. He pulled into the lot and noticed the bed of his truck on fire. Township firefighters responded.
Fraudulent charge: Ruth Kneff of Washington told Washington police Thursday that a fraudulent charge of $136.74 was made last month on her Home Depot card.
Husband charged: Anthony Christmas, 38, of 103 Walnut St., was charged Thursday by Washington police with harassment after he allegedly struck his wife and grabbed her by the throat during a confrontation at their home.
