Police hit man with Taser
A Washington man lost consciousness and was soon revived Wednesday after being hit twice with a Taser by city police during a struggle in which the man bit one of the officers several times. Ronald Petruney, 49, of 1090 Jefferson Ave., remained in Washington Hospital Thursday, and his condition was not immediately known, city police said at a news conference that morning.

County asks for extension
Saying they have taken substantial steps toward conducting a countywide property reassessment, Washington County commissioners asked a judge Thursday to give them an extension until Dec. 31, 2010. Susan Key, the attorney representing the Washington and McGuffey school districts, went back to court in late October, saying she had seen no evidence of progress.

Work on North Strabane Township's Linden Creek sewers begins
A sewerage expansion project that would bring sewer service to about 90 homes in North Strabane Township and potentially open the area up for development is under way. The Linden Creek sewer line project, which runs along Route 519 and costs a little more than $4 million, would bring service to residents in the Gambles and Reedville area and around Wylandville Elementary School. Work started in October and is expected to last about nine months.

Hanover residents look to oust chairman of sewer authority
Hanover Township residents are seeking to oust embattled Hanover Township Sewer Authority Chairman Steve Kladakis. Residents on Thursday presented township supervisors with a petition demanding that Kladakis resign, saying they cannot trust or suppport the sewer authority board because of Kladakis' actions.
