Washington County is under a second severe winter weather warning as two storms approach the region that may result in an additional 10 to 14 inches of snow by Saturday. Emergency management officials are bracing for a second disaster since Friday, one with the potential of being worse than the aftereffects of the recent storm that left thousands of homes in the region without electricity and heat.

Lawmaker will be missed by colleagues, constituents
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell cannot, by law, appoint a successor to U.S. Rep. John Murtha, who died Monday, but he can issue a "writ of election" within 10 days of the vacancy. A special election cannot be scheduled less than 60 days of the issuance of the writ, but, "There's no end date," said Leslie Amoros, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Delivery can't wait: Avella mother gives birth in car
The snowstorm of 2010 will definitely be an event that Amy Johnson and John Humes, both of Avella, will remember for the rest of their lives. About 12:15 a.m. Sunday, the couple became the proud parents of a 7-pound, 2-ounce baby daughter, Paityn, who was born while in a car along Route 844 in Canton Township.
