Peters Twp. tops Mt. Lebanon

Fresh off a dominating 25-point victory over Upper St. Clair, Peters Township earned sole possession of first place in Section 4-AAAA after defeating Mt. Lebanon, 56-40.

The Indians (4-0, 11-1) jumped out to a nine-point lead after the first quarter, then erased any chance of a Blue Devils comeback by outscoring the visitors, 22-13, over the final eight minutes.

Peters Township has won nine straight games and outscored its past two opponents by 41 points.

Nick Wilcox was one of three players to score in double figures for Peters Township with 15 points. Corey Wilcox netted 12 and Steve Radke chipped in 11 points.

Evan Pierce and Deion Turman each had 13 points for Mt. Lebanon (4-1, 10-3).

Avella 65, Beth-Center 49: Cole Heckman and C.J. Gottardi each scored 19 points to lead Avella past Beth-Center, 65-49, in a Section 2-A contest.

Beth-Center (2-2, 6-7) led 25-24 at halftime, but Avella outscored the Bulldogs 23-9 in the third quarter tot ake control of the contest.

Josh Carlisle added 15 points for the Eagles (4-2, 6-7).

Luke Diethorne led Beth-Center with 13 points.

Washington 58, California 34: Washington raced out to a 16-4 lead and cruised to a 58-34 win over California in a Section 5-AA game.

Troy Wilson led a trio of Washington (5-1, 11-2) in double figures with 16 points. Robert Anderson added 13 points and Nick Bryant 11 in the victory. Zach Barnes also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Jordan Michaux led California (2-4, 6-7) with 12 points.

South Fayette 80, Fort Cherry 39: Mike Lamberti led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points and 14 rebounds as South Fayette raced to a 46-12 lead to beat Fort Cherry, 80-39, in a Section 3-AA game.

Joe Silko added 12 points, while Pat Zedreck, Mike Burroughs and Tyler Henry each scored 10 for the Lions (5-1, 10-3). Zedreck also had eight assists.

Zach Bellhy led Fort Cherry (3-3, 9-4) with 15 points.

Burgettstown 69, Frazier 39: Nick Tasz scored 17 points, while Tyler Lonchar added 16, as Burgettstown earned a 69-39 win at Frazier in Section 5-AA.

Kevin Bielecki scored 13 points, while Sean Tunno added 12, for the Blue Devils (3-3, 7-6).

Craig Rebovich led Frazier (0-6, 1-9) with 10 points.

Charleroi 46, Chartiers-Houston 40: Charleroi took advantage of a Chartiers-Houston turnover with 1:12 remaining and scored the final six points of the game to win 46-40 over the Bucs in a Section 5-AA contest.

Eli Obade led Charleroi (4-1, 9-3) with 17 points. Taylor Andrisko added 10 points in the win.

Derek McIlvaine led Chartiers-Houston (3-3, 9-4) with 11 points. The Bucs had 19 turnovers in the game.

Thomas Jefferson 83, McGuffey 37: Dom Decicco scored 20 points as Thomas Jefferson overwhelmed McGuffey, 83-37, in a Section 5-AAA game.

TJ (5-0, 9-1) led 42-14 at the half.

Matt Czulewicz had 20 points and 12 rebounds for McGuffey (0-5, 0-12).

Monessen 85, Brownsville 52: Monessen outscored Brownsville 35-8 in the second quarter and the Greyhounds routed the Falcons, 85-52, in a Section 5-AA contest.

Four Monessen (6-0, 6-6) players scored in double figures, led by Matt Wall's 14 points. Nick Bolias added 13 and Kevin Parker and Cam Johnson each chipped in 10 in the win.

Zach Patterson led Brownsville (0-5, 1-12) with 14 points.

Southmoreland 56, Waynesburg 51: Tom Szatkowski scored a game-high 20 points for Southmoreland in a 56-51win over Waynesburg in a non-section game.

Josh Millslagle added 12 points for Southmoreland (6-8) and Josh Schwartz 11 in the win for the Scotties.

Zack Pollock led Waynesburg (3-7) with 17 points. Ryan Hurd made four three-pointers in a 15-point game and Rusty Phillips added 10.

Baldwin 59, Ringgold 46: Baldwin outscored Ringgold 33-6 behind the three-point line and it led to a 59-46 road win in Section 4-AAA.

Robert Zewe made six three-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points for the Highlanders (1-4, 5-7). Justin Joyce added 12 points and David Sedlock finished with 11.

Dave Bassi led the Rams (1-4, 2-11) with 18 points.

Bethel Park 66, Canon-McMillan 53: Jordan Westfall scored 18 points as Bethel Park pulled away from Canon-McMillan in the second half in a 66-53 Section 4-AAAA game.

Shane Gilchrest added 16 points for the Black Hawks (1-3, 5-7), who led just 32-30 at the half.

Kiante Davis led Canon-McMillan (2-3, 6-7) with 19 points, while Kurt Bonnett had 10 for the Big Macs.

Cameron, W.Va. 51, West Greene 20: West Greene trailed just 8-5 after one quarter, but fell to 0-12 with a 51-20 non-section loss.

Cody Stoneking had 10 points for the Pioneers.

Jefferson-Morgan 59, Mapletown 48: Clinton Stillwell hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points as Jefferson-Morgan topped Mapletown, 59-48, in a Section 2-A game.

The Rockets (3-2, 6-6) made nine three pointers.

Jarrett Porterfield led the Maples (0-5, 1-10) with 18 points.

Girls

Waynesburg 43, West Greene 42: Teekay Kennedy made a foul shot with two seconds remaining in the fourth overtime to lift Waynesburg to a 43-42 win over West Greene in a non-section game.

West Greene scored in the final seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. The two teams battled through four extra periods with the Raiders outscoring the Pioneers 15-14.

Tiffany Stansberry scored a game-high 17 points for Waynesburg (4-9) while Jesse Kisner and Abby Toothman each added 11.

Ashlie Harris led West Greene (2-9) with 11 points.
