PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania gun club and two officers have pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations for enabling one of the officers to sell guns even though he's a convicted felon.
Fifty-six-year-old Joseph "Tex" Freund, his sister Constance Gato, both of Bulger, and the Greater Pittsburgh Trap and Skeet Inc. pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh.
Authorities say Gato falsely signed papers indicating that she, not Freund, was the seller. Freund also filled out paperwork with Gato's name as seller.
Freund has a felony conviction for participating in a chop shop and is prohibited from possessing guns. Authorities say Freund took part in club shoots and was involved in dozens of gun sales.
Sentencing will take place in June.
