Well, now it's time to say goodbye to "Lio." Our editors gave this strip a year to catch on, and it didn't. If anyone liked the little speechless character with the strange hairdo and stranger imagination, that person did not tell us. We did hear, however, from quite a few readers who hated the comic strip, calling it "creepy."
It's replacement, which begins next week, is called "Ollie and Quentin," and appears to be far from creepy. Drawn by British cartoonist Piers Barker, it's about a seagull and a lugworm. (Lugworms are apparently the favorite snack of seagulls in the British Isles, a fact carefully avoided in this strip.)
We hope you enjoy it.
