Amber Bodrick banked in a three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining to break a tie and give Thiel a stunning 90-87 upset of Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at Henry Memorial Center.

It was the first victory for Thiel over W&J in 22 meetings.

W&J (3-1, 9-4), which plays Saturday at PAC leader Thomas More, the fifth-ranked team in NCAA Division III, lost for the first time in league play.

Thiel (3-2, 6-5) won with some remarkable long-range shooting. The Tomcats made 18 of 34 three-pointers and made 10 of their last 13 shots from behind the arc.

Bodrick made eight three-pointers and finished with 34 points for Thiel, which led by as many as 16 points in the first half. Jena Cook scored 14 points, which included four three-pointers. Jasmin Jones had 12 points and Kim Stitt 11.

The Presidents shot 61 percent in the second half and rallied to tie the game at 87-87 on a layup by Stephanie Smith with 53 seconds to play. Smith scored 19 points and made five three-pointers.

Maggie Gibson led W&J with 25 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Jen Rogers scored 12 points and Emily Hays had 10.

Westminster 59, Waynesburg 35: Waynesburg made only 2 of 25 shots in the first half and scored only eight points in the first 20 minutes. That offensive ineptitude led to a 59-35 win by Westminster Wednesday at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington.

Waynesburg (0-4, 1-11) didn't make its first field goal until there was 2:53 left in the first half with Westminster leading 22-6. The Jackets missed their first 20 shots from the floor.

Waynesburg finished 11-of-46 shooting and had 22 turnovers in the game. Marquis Demniak led the Jackets with nine points.

Terese Marszalek led Westminster (2-2, 9-3) with 14 points. Rachel Martinko and Gina Brunetti each added 12 points.
