McMurray resident

Kathryn Leon Cavasinni, 84, of McMurray, died Sunday, January 20, 2008.

She was the beloved wife of 62 years of Frank Cavasinni Jr.

She will be remembered by her family, including daughter Barbara Flynn (Michael) of Potomac, Md.; son David Cavasinni (Amy) of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Peter Flynn (Dara), Bethany Schreiber (Karl), Brenna Flynn and Davey and Devin Cavasinni; and great-grandson Karl Schreiber Jr., who gave her much joy since his birth three and a half months ago. She was a cherished sister of Elizabeth Baisley of Moorpark, Calif., Isaac Leon (Patricia) of Canonsburg and Mary Solomon (Michael) of West Homestead.

She will be sadly missed by her many loving nieces and nephews and her niece by marriage, Dr. Mary Cavasina.

As the highly respected matriarch of the Leon family, she was readily available to counsel and share her wisdom and generosity with family members of all ages.

ROY F. ISIMINGER

Ford Motor retiree, WWII vet was born in Greene Co.

Roy F. Isiminger, 90, of Dearborn, Mich., formerly of Springhill Township, Mt. Carmel, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, in Oakwood Skilled Nursing Home, Dearborn.

He was born May 30, 1917, in Springhill Township, Mt. Carmel, a son of Henry and Lucinda Whipkey Isiminger.

Mr. Isiminger was a graduate of Cameron High School and had attended Fairmont, W.Va., College.

He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines.

He resided in Michigan since the end of World War II.

Mr. Isiminger was a member of Wick Road Baptist Church, Dearborn.

He was last employed as an engineer with Ford Motor Co. in Detroit for more than 30 years, prior to retirement.

Mr. Isiminger was married to Blanche Moose Isiminger, who died June 3, 1987.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Moninger of Aleppo Township and Helen A. Bakey of Springhill Township, Mt. Carmel; a brother, Paul Isiminger of Dearborn; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife, are three brothers, Anon, Jacob and Edison Isiminger, and two sisters, Inzie Gray and Alma King.

Former Washington County employee

Paul Michael Matula, 64, of Fredericktown, died Monday, January 21, 2008.

He was a 1963 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and worked in the home remodeling industry, retiring after 19 years working at the Washington County Courthouse.

Mr. Matula was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, guitar player and member of Centerville Sportsman Club, American Legion of Fredericktown and Miner's Club of Richeyville.

He was the beloved husband of Joann McKulka; father of Paul M., Mark A. and Tracy R. Matula; son of Margaret Chalovich-Matula Morris and the late Paul Matula; stepson of the late Edward Morris; stepfather of John (Maryanne) Marshall and Bernice Burton; brother of Rosalin "Sissy" (Richard) Zimmerman and Linda (George) Heckman; grandfather of Arielle, John Jr., Christine, Douglas, Roger and Amanda; and great-grandfather of Paige and Madison.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Frank Burkus Funeral Home, 26 Mill Street, Millsboro, where a blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24. Burial will follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna. A parish vigil will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

HARRY PAUL MAUST

Retired WFD inspector was WWII Army veteran

Harry Paul Maust, 88, of Washington, died Monday, January 21, 2008, in Washington Hospital.

He was born November 18, 1919, in McDonald, a son of Harry P. and Catherine Grimes Maust.

He attended Seventh Ward School and Washington High School.

During World War II, he served in Europe with the U.S. Army, 28th Division, 110th Infantry, Companies H and M, as a staff sergeant. For his service, he was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Defense Service Medal, European Theater Ribbon, a Regimental Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge with rifle bar, Combat Infantry Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button and battle stars for the Normandy Campaign, Northern France Campaign and Rhineland Campaign. He was honorably discharged September 4, 1945.

Mr. Maust worked for West Penn Power Co. and as a teamster's chauffeur and helper for Local 585. He also was a retired inspector for Washington Fire Department.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, BPOE 776, 28th Division, 110th Infantry Association of World War II, a life member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and a life member of Disabled American Veterans and International Municipal Signal Association.

On May 25, 1946, he married Jeannetta Ruth Horner, who survives.

A sister, Virginia Nicastro of Washington, also survives.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with Father Nicholas Spirko as celebrant. VAUGHN E. MCCUE

Beloved grandfather and nature lover

Vaughn E. McCue, 80, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born June 26, 1927, in Grafton, W.Va., a son of Roy and Goldie Lambert McCue.

Mr. McCue was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School.

In 1992, after 39 years of service, he retired from Universal Cyclops, Lawrenceville.

Mr. McCue was an avid deer hunter and fisherman.

He enjoyed watching football, NASCAR and Animal Planet.

His three sons and grandchildren were the absolute joy of his life.

His wife, Patricia Hoffman McCue, died February 29, 2004.

Surviving are three sons, Mark S. McCue and Kevin J. McCue, both of Washington, and Mike McCue of Morrison, Colo.; a sister, Jean Whitaker of Washington; seven grandchildren, Sybil McCue of Mt. Lebanon, Kennith Korody of Washington, Eric Korody of Manitou Springs, Colo., and Kameron McCue, Ian McCue, Chad McCue and Cory McCue, all of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Rhea Frances McCue; and two brothers, Richard McCue and Roy William (Billy) McCue.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. CARL MIDDLETON

Waynesburg man retired from Cumberland Coal Mine

Carl "Bud" Middleton, 76, of Waynesburg, died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Saturday, January 9, 1932, in Whittaker, a son of John S. and Hildegrad Olson Middleton.

Mr. Middleton was a member of Pittsburgh Masonic Lodge 203 F&AM and United Mine Workers of America.

He worked for Cumberland Coal Mine, retiring in 1992.

Mr. Middleton loved his family and was an adored dad and pappy.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy E. Kelly Middleton, whom he married November 13, 1954; a daughter, Debra and husband Gregg McNeely of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Kaitlin and Steven McNeely; a brother, Franklin Middleton of Fontana, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters and three brothers.

The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of a memorial service, Friday, January 25, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, with the Rev. Richard "Skip" Noftzger officiating.

Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Fairall Cemetery, Whiteley Township.

WANDA PIETROWSKI PLATE

1914-2008

Wanda Pietrowski Plate, 93, a lifelong resident of Burgettstown, died Monday morning, January 21, 2008, in Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.

She was born November 17, 1914, in Joffre, a daughter of Albert and Anna Pietrowski.

Mrs. Plate was owner of Plate's Dress Shop in Burgettstown prior to her retirement in 1974 at the age of 60.

She and her husband also owned Plate's Restaurant in Burgettstown.

Mrs. Plate had a passion for flowers and was an avid gardener, enjoyed china painting and traveled extensively throughout the world.

She donated to numerous local charities and benefits.

Her husband, Joseph Plate, died December 8, 1992.

Surviving are three daughters, Jo-Ann Liddick and husband David of Rock Hill, S.C., Patty Schwall and husband Don of Gibsonia and Pam Montgomery and husband Barry of Allison Park; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maelyn Halulko of Joffre.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 24, with the Rev. Infant daughter

Emily Noel Reese, infant, died Monday, January 7, 2008, in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born December 18, 2007, to Kevin and Terry Maziekas Reese of St. Louis.

Her father, Kevin Reese, is formerly of Washington.

Her mother, Terry Maziekas Reese, is formerly of Mahanoy City.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her paternal grandparents, Earl and Judy Olesky Reese of Washington; and her maternal grandmother, Janis Maziekas of Mahanoy City.

Also surviving are three aunts; four uncles; four cousins; a great-aunt and her spouse; and a great-uncle.

Deceased is her maternal grandfather, Albert Maziekas.

A private service was held Saturday, January 12.

MARY Y. WRIGHT

Waynesburg University retiree enjoyed quilting

Mary Y. Wright, 80, of Waynesburg, died unexpectedly at 6:50 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, after a weeklong illness.

She was born September 20, 1925, in Wayne Township, a daughter of Robert Ernest and Elizabeth (Libby) Calvert Yeager, and had resided in Greene and Washington counties all of her life.

Mrs. Wright was a 1943 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

She was a former member, pianist and Sunday school teacher in Enon Baptist Church and attended Church of the Nazarene and First Christian Church, both in Waynesburg.

Mrs. Wright was a member of Waynesburg Senior Citizens and enjoyed quilting, sewing, puzzle books, listening to Gaither Brothers gospel music and reading the Bible.

She was employed as a clerk by the former Montgomery Ward department store in Washington and was last employed in the housekeeping department at Waynesburg University, prior to retiring in 1988.

On October 23, 1946, she married Raynor Lloyd Wright, who died July 26, 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia L., wife of Ricky Lynn of Oakwood, Ga.; a son, Kermit L., husband of Larina (Larrie) Langer Wright of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.

She will be sadly missed by her special friend, Dale Ealy.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son, Robert LaVerne Wright; a sister, Dorothy Yeager Chambers; and two brothers, Edison and Harold Yeager.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 2 p.m., the time of services, Thursday, January 24, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, with the Rev. Thomas E.
