HELEN I. ABBONDANZA

Lifelong resident

of Canonsburg/Muse area

Helen I. Abbondanza, 82, of Canonsburg, died Friday, January 25, 2008, in The Greenery, North Strabane Township.

She was born September 19, 1925, in Canonsburg, a daughter of John Lewis and Frances Pauline Marunjak Klescik.

Mrs. Abbondanza lived her entire life in the Canonsburg/Muse area, where she was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Muse, and its Christian Mothers.

She had been employed as a psychiatric aide at the former Western Center and then Mayview State Hospital from 1967 until 1988.

Mrs. Abbondanza was a member of AFSCME Union, Muse Senior Citizens and Ladies Auxiliary of Muse Independent Club.

On February 10, 1945, in St. Mary's Church, Cecil, she married Albert A. Abbondanza, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Albert J. (Marian) Abbondanza of Goldsboro, N.C., and Glenn J. (Lynda) Abbondanza of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Faye Ellen Abbondanza of Girard, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Fern) Klescik of Cecil Township; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two daughters, Karen M. Livitski and Jean M. Bechtold Dolence; and a brother, John Klescik.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at noon Tuesday, January 29. Dolores "Dolly" Adams, 81, of Peters Township, died Thursday, January 24, 2008.

She was the wife of Thomas Adams, who is deceased.

Mrs. Adams was the cherished mother of Jackie (Bruce) Riebel, Kathleen Askins and Charlotte Adams; a sister of Sally Juran, Timothy (Dolores) Grzywacz, the late Ted Grzywacz and Rosemarie Grover; and loving grandmother of Melanie, Buddy, Michael and Jessica. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Paul L. Henney Memorial Chapel, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park. MARCELLA BASINGER

Marcella Basinger, 84, of Waynesburg, died Friday, January 25, 2008, in Coville Personal Care Home, Masontown.

She was born December 26, 1923, in Normalville, a daughter of Dewey and Bertha Walker Mosholder.

Mrs. Basinger was a homemaker and resided most of her life in the Lippencott area. She and her husband were foster parents to more than 100 children.

She was a member Trinity Baptist Church in Waynesburg and a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lippencott.

On June 26, 1940, she married J. Woodrow Basinger, who died October 14, 1995.

Surviving are three sons, Gerald Woodrow Basinger and wife Barb of Waynesburg, Marvin John Basinger and wife Linda of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Timothy L. Basinger and wife Pam of Waynesburg; foster children Martha McClure, Mary Roberts, Linda White, Judy Little and Sue Black; 17 grandchildren, Mark, Mike, Andy, Travis, Laura and Shelley Basinger, Mia Carpenter, Pam Miller, Cassie Bryan, Robert, Michael and Keith McCarty, Brian White, Melissa Barnhart, Rebecca Harris, Jennifer Gallagher and Zachary Black; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Jean Humble of Waynesburg.

Deceased are a granddaughter, Amanda Basinger; a sister, Elsie May Detling; and five brothers, Bill, Richard, Sam and Dewey Mosholder and an infant brother.

Former Washington resident owned Bonus Market

Hilda M. Bonus, 79, of Cambridge Springs, formerly of Washington, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, in her home, following a yearlong battle with cancer and a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.

She was born October 11, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of Samuel H. and Gladys D. Jennings Cain.

Mrs. Bonus was a 1946 graduate of Trinity High School.

She owned the Bonus Market.

Mrs. Bonus loved dancing, her grandchildren and friends.

On July 3, 1948, in Washington, she married William O. Bonus, who died March 31, 1985.

Surviving are a son, William J. Bonus Sr. of Ohio; a daughter, Jodi Bonus (David A.) Marczak of Edinboro; a brother, Carl W. (Shirley) Cain of Washington; four grandchildren, Jesse and Rachel Marczak, Emily Bonus and William J. Bonus Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Cathy Bonus; a brother, Harold Richard Cain; and a sister, Rita Motto.

Canonsburg, born in Italy

Anna Davis, 97, formerly of Canonsburg, died Thursday, January 24, 2008.

Mrs. Davis moved to Fayetteville, Ga., five years ago with her loving son, Ernest Jr. and Helen Davis.

She was born July 16, 1910, in Bedollo, Italy, and came to the United States in 1930 as a young 20 year old.

Mrs. Davis was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Ernest L. Davis Sr., who died in 1992.

She was the beloved mother to Ernest and Helen Davis Jr. of Fayetteville, Robert and Carole Davis of Canonsburg and Louis Davis, who died in 1994. She was the cherished grandmother of Denise Davis Vance, John Davis, Robert (Bobby) Davis, Angie Davis Peterson, Alan Davis, Larry Davis, Jeff Davis, Danny Davis, David Davis, Tiffany Campbell and Wayne Davis. Also surviving are 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Bertha (the late Henry) Quaresima and Irma (the late Angelo) Quaresima.

Celebration of life services were held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in Charmichael-Hemberley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, Ga.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of a blessing service, Monday, January 28, in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, McMurray.

WWII veteran

Paul Hustey, 84, of Coraopolis, died December 12, 2007, in Lawrenceville, Ga.

He was born October 11, 1923, in Grindstone.

Mr. Hustey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired employee of Dravo Corp. with 25-plus years of service, a 40-year employee of Rolling Hills Country Club in McMurray and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 402 in Coraopolis.

Father, grandpap, brother, uncle, friend or neighbor - those he knew considered themselves blessed to have had him in their lives.

Surviving are a son, John (Kelda) Hustey of Lawrenceville.

Also surviving are his cherished nieces and nephews, Wallace (Lynda) Smith Jr. of Jefferson, Constance (George) Gechoff of Hollywood, Fla., Frederic (Mary Rose) Hustey of Lakewood, Ohio, Peter (Jane) Labita of Haworth, N.J., George (Susan) Labita of River Edge, N.J., Mary Anne Labita of River Edge and Richard (Rita) Labita of New Milford, N.J.; and two dear sisters-in-law, Pat Hustey and Elizabeth Hustey, both of Brownsville.

He was an adoring and proud grandfather to Sarah Grace and William.

Deceased are his beloved siblings, Mary Smith, Catherine Labita, John Hustey, Mike Hustey and Nick Hustey; and a nephew, J. Donald Hustey.

Interment and graveside committal service will be held at a future date with military honors in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

Joan E. Lesnock, 62, of Washington, died unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2008, in the emergency department of Washington Hospital.

Born October 26, 1945, in Washington, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Helen Jankowiak Lesnock.

She graduated from McGuffey High School in 1963 and attended Penn Commercial. In 1985, she graduated from Washington & Jefferson College after attending night school while working her way through college, and went on to earn a law degree in 1987 from University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

An attorney for 20 years, she was a member of Washington Bar Association and West Virginia Bar Association.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

The March of Dimes, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and Washington Area Humane Society were some of her affiliations.

She dearly loved all of her many nieces and nephews.

Surviving are four brothers, James R. (Dianne) Lesnock, John (Rose) Lesnock, Anthony Lesnock Jr. and Thomas R. (Flossie) Lesnock; and a sister, Janet (Mark) Kuhn, all of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Annette Marie Muha-Groomes, 48, of Cecil, died Friday, January 25, 2008, in her home.

She was born Saturday, June 13, 1959, in Homestead, a daughter of the late John and Mary Hess Muha.

She was raised in Munhall and spent the last 23 years in Cecil.

Mrs. Muha-Groomes loved animals, especially her rottweilers, Zema and Buckwheat.

She worked at SNPJ Insurance as a bookkeeper and as a waitress for Kings Family Restaurant, Upper St. Clair.

Surviving are her husband, Brian Groomes of Cecil.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a brother, John Muha; and a sister, Lisa Muha.

Edward A. Sienkiel, 73, of Washington, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, in Washington Hospital.

He was born October 11, 1934, in Washington, a son of Albert and Josephine Florek Sienkiel.

Mr. Sienkiel attended Trinity High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Corregidor.

After 36 years of service, he retired from Owens-Brockway Glass as a foreman.

Mr. Sienkiel was a longtime member of Polish Club in Washington.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and his dog, Lucy.

Surviving are his ex-wife, Saundra Mowl Sienkiel; two daughters, Amy (Doug) Cook and Sheri (Greg Rhodes) Glendenning; four grandchildren, Joshua Bradford, Shaina Glendenning, Gregory Rhodes Jr. and Dylan Rhodes; a great-grandson, Jerrin Glendenning; two brothers, Norbert Sienkiel and Joseph Sienkiel, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Wilbur J. "Red" Stutts, 82, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, in Tandem Village of North Strabane.

He was born Thursday, December 17, 1925, in Muse, a son of George and Magdeline Gasparic Stutts.

Mr. Stutts was a lifelong Muse area resident and a member of Holy Rosary Church. He served with the 4th Division of the U.S. Marines in Iwo Jima during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He worked in Muse Mine and was a large finisher for McGraw-Edison until his retirement.

On April 17, 1948, he married Lois Jean Faure, who died June 1, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Stutts (Donna) of Canonsburg and William D. Stutts (Linda) of Arkansas; two daughters, Maureen Wilson (Boyd Blackburn) of Charleroi and Mary Stutts (Sam Killinger) of Canonsburg; a brother, David Stutts of McMurray; six grandchildren, Cathy Mowery, Daniel Wilson, Capt. Michael Stutts Jr., Michele Wilson, Nicole Wilson and Christen Stutts; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four brothers, John W., James, William and Joseph Stutts; and a sister, Helen Phillips.

HAROLD WILSON

Former Washington resident, veteran of U.S. Navy

Harold "Dick" Wilson, 77, of McNutt Drive, Ashtabula, Ohio, died unexpectedly Friday, January 25, 2008.

He was born April 4, 1930, in Washington, a son of Harold F. and Clara VanSickle Wilson. He had been an Ashtabula resident since 1958.

Prior to his retirement in 1995, Mr. Wilson worked more than 10 years for Glastic in Jefferson, Ohio. He previously worked at area greenhouses, for Industrial Rayon, Norton Plastics, Ashtabula Bow Socket, and for the railroad, all in Ohio.

Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

A member of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene, he had previously taught Sunday school and drove the church bus. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening (in his younger years), collecting cups, glasses and ball caps, and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.

A true "people person," Mr. Wilson loved to attend antique car shows and enjoyed fishing and bowling, having participated in several leagues during the 1970s and 1980s. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help those in need.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Plants Wilson; three daughters, Margaret (David) Klender of Jefferson and Donna (Carl) Fisher and Shirley (Frank) Sickinger, both of Ashtabula; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Bryana, Jonathon, Chris, Ryan, Robin, Shawn, Brandi and Christopher; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Marcus.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Charles Wilson; and a sister, Marion Barnes.

Hazel Ruth Calvert Yoders, 85, of Washington, died Friday, January 25, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 16, 1922, in Washington County, a daughter of Amos Gilmore and Ida Caroline Wright Calvert.

Mrs. Yoders was a clerk in Krency's Bakery for 18 years.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, bowling and flowers.

On October 31, 1938, in Cumberland, Md., she married Charles L. Yoders, who died November 14, 2003.

Surviving are two sons, Charles (Judith) Yoders and Jerald W. (Jill) Yoders, both of Washington; two daughters, Diane (Danny) Rose of Washington and Patricia L. David of Finleyville; 14 grandchildren, Kay, Mark, Lori, Ann, Scott, Chris, Gretchen, Brian, Tammy, Dana, Shawn, Joseph, Theresa and David; two adopted grandchildren, Betty Jo and Cathy; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
