Justin M. Samol, 24, of 1012 Chestnut St., Hiller, is being held in Washington County Jail on theft and other charges stemming from the police call, court records show.
Samol complained to borough police at 7:30 p.m. about being struck in the eye by one of two men who robbed him coming down a set of stairs at Vulcan Village apartments. He told police he was robbed after delivering a pizza to apartment 229, which police learned doesn't exist in the building.
Police went to apartment 228 and took a report from a woman that she had just received a pizza from a man who had a large bump on his eye.
Police said they checked with Pizza Hut only to learn that Samol's story had inconsistencies.
He was taken to a police cruiser and identified a man in its back seat as one of the men who robbed him. But the man actually was a state constable, court records show. At that point, Samol told police they could find $177 of the missing pizza delivery money in the trunk of his vehicle.
Samol also is charged with making false reports to police, causing a false alarm to an agency of public service and receiving stolen property.
He is jailed on $1,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
