Blocks stolen: Patsy Polachek, of 341 Main St., Bentleyville, told state police Sunday that six retaining wall blocks were stolen from her landscaping.
BUFFALO TOWNSHIP
DUI charge: Jeremy Hancher, 27, of 71 Mobile Road, Washington, was charged by state police Monday with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a May 18 crash in Buffalo. His blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication, according to police. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Dutton.
CANONSBURG
Vehicle damaged: Peter Rucki of 353 Euclid Ave. told Canonsburg police Friday that vandals dented the hood of his vehicle.
CANTON TOWNSHIP
Disorderly charge: Charles J. Morris, 46, of Washington, will be charged by state police with disorderly conduct after allegedly banging on doors and windows at 1399 W. Chestnut St., Canton, where his estranged wife, Rhonda Morris, was working early Monday.
DONEGAL TOWNSHIP
Money stolen: Clayton Varner of 24 Varner Lane told Donegal police Friday that a cash drawer was forced open and $140 was stolen.
Car hits post: Joshua Smith of Claysville escaped injury Saturday afternoon when his car hydroplaned on a wet Route 40, went off the road near Claysville Cemetery and hit a post.
Drunken driving charge: Heidi Ann Lynn, 34, of Belle Vernon, was charged by Donegal police with drunken driving after an incident Sunday.
According to police, an officer saw her traveling 20 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 70 westbound. She also was driving erratically and exited the highway at Claysville, went through a stop sign and then got back onto I-70, police said. Her BAC was more than 21/2 times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication, according to police. She also was charged with reckless driving and going through a stop sign. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Dutton.
Bad checks: Suzanne T. Brownlee, 47, of 148 Incline Ave., Wheeling, W.Va., was charged Monday by Donegal Township police with writing bad checks in connection with payments to Stout's Greenhouse in West Alexander last month. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Dutton.
McDONALD
Assault charge: Shawn Douglas Zombeck, 29, of 336 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, was arrested Saturday by borough police after he allegedly punched James Allen in the face during an incident at 323 E. Lincoln.
He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Dutton on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment and was placed in Washington County Jail.
MONONGAHELA
Terroristic threats charge: John H. Vance, 41, of 640 E. Main St., Monongahela, was arrested Saturday by Monongahela police after allegedly threatening to kill his neighbors, Jayme and Joseph Munger, and then going to their home at 464 E. Main.
He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Dutton on charges of terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $2,000 bond.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP
Dog theft: Three people were charged by Donegal Township police with theft for allegedly stealing two pit bull puppies from Joshua Sheppard of 270 Bells Lake Road, Morris, in March 2007.
Charged were Aaron M. Burnette, 24, of 168 Floral Hill Drive, South Strabane Township; Brian Smith, 21, of 416 Cherry Ave., Houston; and Leeann Group, 22, whose address was listed in the complaint as 752 Ewing St., Washington. Charges were filed Monday and will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Dutton.
NORTH FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP
Woman injured: North Franklin police said Leeann Group, 22, was injured Sunday night when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Park Avenue near West Maiden Street. Group, whose address in the police report was listed as 199 Vaneal Drive, Washington, was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. The hospital had no record of her treatment. Police continue to investigate.
Car found: A red Chevrolet Cavalier was reported stolen at 10:13 p.m. Thursday. George Hilderbrand of 213 Lone Pine Road told city police he and his wife left the car in the Elks Club parking lot at 134 E. Maiden St. When they returned, the car was gone.
The car was found Friday parked in front of B.J.'s Car Wash, West Chestnut Street, North Franklin. The keys were in the vehicle.
Warrant arrest: Shawn Bedillion, 33, of 346 Locust Ave., Washington, was taken to Washington County Jail after North Franklin police learned he was wanted on a warrant while they answered a disturbance call at Day's Inn, West Chestnut Street. Bedillion was charged with disorderly conduct stemming from the disturbance and will be charged with possession of marijuana after the suspected drug was found on him at the jail.
Windshield damaged: Mollee Loveland of 3 Anderson Drive, Washington, told North Franklin police that vandals smashed the windshield of her vehicle.
NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP
Money stolen: Floradine Turner of Duquesne told North Strabane police Saturday that $400 was stolen from her purse while it was in the trunk of her car while parked in the lot of The Meadows Casino & Racetrack, 200 Racetrack Road.
PETERS TOWNSHIP
Criminal mischief: Two mailboxes and posts at houses in the 200 block of Snowberry Circle were damaged at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, township police said.
A witness saw a white man get out of his vehicle and "attack" the mailboxes, police said. The damages were reported at 9:25 a.m. Sunday.
Underage drinking charges: Police made a routine traffic stop in a driveway of a house in the 100 block of Lintel Drive at 1:50 a.m. Monday. While interviewing the driver, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy came out of the house to see what was going on and were cited for underage drinking when police determined they had consumed alcohol, police said.
SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP
Woman arrested: Rebecca Lynn Salyer, 27, of 201 Cummins Ave., Houston, was arrested Sunday by South Strabane police on an outstanding warrant from police in Allegheny County. Township police were called by a hairdresser at Wal-Mart after Salyer failed to pay for a haircut. She was charged by township police with theft of services.
Wheels stolen: Two wheels were stolen and two lug nuts removed from two other tires on a 2008 Toyota Camry parked Sunday at Washington Auto Mall, Strabane Square, South Strabane police said.
DUI charge: Delfine Bredniak, 37, of Windber, was charged by South Strabane police with driving under the influence and having an open container of beer after he was found about 10 a.m. Friday behind the wheel of his vehicle with the engine running. He tried to get out of the car while wearing his seat belt. He told police that he was in Johnstown and they were making him late for work. He was due there at 6:30 a.m. His BAC was almost three times the 0.08 percent presumed for intoxication, according to police.
Shots fired: A man collecting trash Friday at Northgate Apartments told South Strabane police that he was shot at with a BB gun. He said he also had been shot at the previous Friday.
WASHINGTON
Warrant request: Washington police are requesting a warrant for Stenan Johnson, 23, of 1270 Summerlea Ave., for aggravated assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. Johnson is accused of spitting in Jeff Watson's face and threatening to cut his throat at 88 N. Main St. on Thursday at 12:21 p.m.
Gas theft: Washington police responded to Dairy Mart, 701 W. Chestnut St., for a complaint of gasoline theft about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A clerk told police that she activated a regular pump for a customer who prepaid. Prior to pumping, the customer wanted high test. The high-test pump was activated but the regular grade wasn't canceled. Prior to the pump being reset, the driver pumped $18.14 worth of regular gas and left without paying, police said.
Money stolen: John Sargent told Washington police that $80 was stolen from his home at 1320 Allison Ave. Friday just after midnight. He said his daughter was home, heard a noise in the back of the house and saw a reflection of a person in her mother's hair salon, which is part of the house. She ran out of the house, and someone went through several drawers and took the money, police said.
Car theft: A silver 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT was reported stolen at11:33 a.m. Saturday. Michael Sweeney of 233 West Chestnut Ave., Apartment 805, told Washington police that the car was missing when he awoke.
Aggravated assault: Washington police responded to a complaint about a fight at Nick's Sunoco, 595 Allison Ave, Monday at 1:10 a.m. Police said they found Jason Simms, 19, of 758 Allison Ave., on his back in the parking lot near a gas pump. He had several abrasions on his face. Police said he couldn't provide much detail except he was jumped by two men.
Witnesses said that Simms and another man pulled up to the station and were followed by a yellow car. The man with Simms went in the store, and Simms stayed by the car. Two men in the yellow car confronted Simms, with one telling Simms he owed his brother money. Witnesses said he punched Simms in the face, and after he fell to the ground, both men stomped on his head several times.
Simms was transported from Washington Hospital to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, for treatment of possible internal injuries.
Police will said they will get video of the assault and file charges.
Shots fired: Washington police responded for a call of shots fired around a large group of people at Maple Terrace Apartments about 2:10 a.m. Sunday. A second caller said a yellow-striped car might be involved. Police stopped the vehicle, but no weapons were found inside. Those in the car said the shots were fired near the car while it was by a Dumpster, but they did not give more information. Police searched the area but did not find any casings.
While police were responding to the call, one officer noticed Zachary Sadler, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. He was taken into custody. Police found a Davis Industries .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol and a small case containing white residue along with several plastic bags in his backpack. The residue on the case and a piece of plastic in his pants field-tested positive for cocaine, according to police. They found no record for his pistol.
WEST FINLEY TOWNSHIP
Windows, doors damaged: Barry Clutter of Sutton, W.Va., told state police Saturday that a post and fire wood were used to break four windows and damage doors at property he owns at 659 W. Finley Road, West Finley.
