n Action: The board awarded two contracts under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the larger of which was $241,000 to G&W Roofing and Construction, Eighty Four, to replace the roof at Bassettown Manor. The bid came in at 8 percent less than housing authority management had expected. The board awarded another contract, worth $19,499, for repairing rising floors at the Donora Townhouses, 1331-1341 McKean Ave., to Elisha Industries Inc., Belle Vernon.
The board agreed to submit five-year and annual plans for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1 as required under the federal Quality Housing Work Responsibility Act of 1998.
It also approved attendance at a seminar Aug. 5-6 in Blairsville on new evaluations of public housing by Dottie Kesneck, Terrie Javorsky, Janet Jenko, Barbara Jones, Sally Loar, Amy Whewell and Jayne Wilson.
The board also entered into contracts with natural gas provider Compass Energy for Maple Terrace, Valley View Terrace and Highland Terrace, and Synder Brothers for natural gas for Bentley Tower.
