KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Three Washington pitchers combined on a four-hitter and Matt Sutton hit a home run as the Wild Things defeated Frontier League East Division-leading Kalamazoo, 4-1, Sunday at Homer Stryker Field.

Starting pitcher Brian McCullough (2-0) worked into the sixth inning for Washington and left with a 3-1 lead. Relievers Michael Lucas and Justin Edwards combined for four hitless innings to secure the win. Lucas worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the sixth. Edwards pitched the ninth inning for his second save.

Sutton gave Washington a 2-1 lead with an opposite-field solo homer in the top of the fifth off Kalamazoo starter Joe Dipietro (2-3). Ernie Banks contributed an RBI-double in the sixth and scored in the ninth on Alan Robbins' sacrifice fly. Banks had two of Washington's seven hits.

Washington's first run scored when Chris Sidick singled home Robbins in the third inning.
