Rebecca Lyn (Beckie) Brown, 52, of Canonsburg, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh.

She was born Thursday, June 30, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Allen and Alice Florine Whitmer Dorn.

Mrs. Brown was a title insurance underwriter for ServiceLink.

She was a member of Polish National Union 116 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2026.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining and party planning, sewing and crocheting.

She was a very dedicated Cleveland Browns fan.

She was a strong and fighting woman with a huge heart. She will be missed by a great many.

Surviving are a daughter, Brandi Cross, and a son, Christopher Brown, both of Canonsburg; two brothers, William Dorn of Chardon, Ohio, and Daniel Calvin Dorn of Burton, Ohio; a sister, Marla Calvin of Meadow Lands; two granddaughters, Allison Marie and Morgan Chelsea Cross; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Timothy Brown; and a brother, Timothy Dorn.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. QUINDO LEONI

U.S. Army Korean War vet, heavy equipment operator

Quindo Leoni, 80, of Bentleyville, Somerset Township, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Mon Valley Hospital.

He was born October 4, 1927, in Bentleyville, a son of Orlando and Elisa Paci Leoni.

Mr. Leoni was a member of St. Anthony Church, Monongahela.

He worked for Golden Triangle Construction in Pittsburgh, where he was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for more than 30 years, retiring 10 years ago.

Mr. Leoni was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

He enjoyed spending his time doing mechanical work on the family farm and hunting deer. In earlier years, when he was able, he was an avid motorcyclist.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Dolores Tokosh Leoni; three sons, Orlando Keith and wife Jackie Leoni of Bentleyville, Todd and wife Jennifer Leoni of Belle Vernon and Quinn and wife Christy Leoni of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Marion Ogrodowski of California state; four grandchildren, Devon, Shawn, Skyler and Kailynn Leoni; a brother, Chester Leoni of Monongahela; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Belladina Leoni, and three brothers, Guerino, George and Pete Leoni.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, with the Rev. Joseph Oppong officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery with full military honors accorded at the chapel by Monongahela Firing Squad and Honor Guard.

CAROL MIKUTA

Devoted wife, mother

and grandmother

Carol Mikuta, 69, of Washington, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, of cancer.

She was born June 27, 1939, in Washington, the youngest of three daughters of Robert and Doris Brownlee Behringer.

Mrs. Mikuta and her husband were members of Immaculate Conception Church. She attended Washington High School and was employed by Trinity Area School District, serving as cafeteria manager at Patten School as well as working in several other Trinity schools within the district.

She was a member of Retired Angels.

Mrs. Mikuta was a kind, thoughtful, caring person whose cheerful manner and generous nature enriched the lives of her family and numerous friends. Her kindness led her to help and serve as a caretaker for many who were in need because of failing health or unfortunate circumstances.

She was a devoted wife to her husband, Bernard, who survives.

They especially enjoyed traveling during their long marriage. She always looked upon her close family with pride.

She was the loving mother of two daughters, Christine Ann Mikuta of Canonsburg and Janet Lynn (Albert) Aloia of McMurray; two treasured grandchildren, Kent David Aloia and Julie Christine Aloia of McMurray; two sisters, Doris Ann (Don) Roth of Yucaipa, Calif., and Joan (George) Summers of Loma Linda, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Hanover Presbyterian Church member

Mary V. Reed, 93, of Hanover Township, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Friendship Ridge, Beaver.

She was born June 16, 1915, in Washington County, a daughter of John and Martha Purdy Maxwell.

Mrs. Reed was a graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown.

She was a member of Hanover Presbyterian Church and served many years on the election board for Hanover Township.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Richard Busch of Brighton Township; two sons and daughters-in-law, Halden "Hub" and Carol Reed of Burgettstown and Sid and Maryanne Reed of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Woolsey of Aliquippa; grandchildren Jeff and Tami Reed, Matt and Rhonda Langton, John and Tami Reed, Kristieanne and Len Goldstein, Brett Reed, Brian and Rachel Woolsey, Bob and Charmaine Busch and James and Amy Bogart; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Lyman R. Reed, who died in 1986; a son, Ronald L. Reed, who died in 1967; brothers John, Ralph, Clark, Leroy and Lawrence; and sisters Imogene and Alice.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Welch Funeral Home, Hookstown, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Hookstown.

MALCOLM E. RUBEN

Washington urologist

was U.S. Navy veteran

Cmdr. Dr. Malcolm E. Ruben, 83, of Washington, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in his home.

He was born June 12, 1925, in Washington, a son of Dr. David Harry and Cele Levy Ruben.

Dr. Ruben was a 1942 graduate of East Washington High School and attended Harvard University from 1942 to 1944. During his time at Harvard, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1944, he left Harvard to attend Johns Hopkins Medical School.

During his 42 years of service with the U.S. Navy, he served two tours of active duty service, one during World War II and the second during the Korean conflict, serving the remainder of his time as a reservist.

Following his service in the Korean conflict, he returned to Washington, where he continued a urology practice started by his father and was on staff at Washington Hospital. During his tenure with Washington Hospital, he served as chief of urological services, chief of surgery and chief of staff. He served as president of Washington County Medical Society and president of Pittsburgh Urological Association, retiring in 1977.

He was an active member of American Urological Association, American Medical Association and Washington Rotary Club. He was a fellow of American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, American Urological Society, Society of Fertility and Pennsylvania Urological Society.

Dr. Ruben had many hobbies and was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his greatest thrills was large game hunting in British Columbia and Alaska. He bagged a number of large game trophies including a polar bear. He enjoyed sports car rallies as a driver, coin and stamp collecting, collecting sports cards, photography, geology, leather working and traveling. He was an avid hockey fan.

Surviving are his first wife, Ruth O'Brien of Tampa, Fla; his second wife, Jane Morgan of Washington; three sons, Marc (Helene) Ruben of Ann Arbor, Mich., Dr. Geoffrey (Rosemary) Ruben of Washington and David (Lori) Ruben of Washington; two daughters, Janis Deitch of Mars and Amy Conley of Tampa; a stepson, Jeff (Christy) McAfee of Carmichaels; a stepdaughter, Kim Hamilton of Washington; and many grandchildren.

Deceased is a brother, Dr. Jerold Ruben.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 3, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. WALTER B. TEAGARDEN

Avid outdoorsman enjoyed woodworking and archery

Walter B. Teagarden, 82, of West Finley, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, in RespiCenter West, Waynesburg.

He was born Sunday, May 9, 1926, in Waynesburg, a son of Alvin H. Teagarden and Ione R. Harkins Teagarden.

Mr. Teagarden was a lifelong resident of Greene County.

He worked for the Pennsylvania Highway Department for many years.

Mr. Teagarden was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed woodworking and archery. He was very skilled with heavy construction.

His wife, Grace Moore Teagarden, survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Margaret I. and husband Bob Dunn of Redding, Calif., and Arlene F. and husband Jerry Lantzer of West Finley; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Teagarden of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a grandson, Aaron Lantzer; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Teagarden.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
