New president named at Columbia Gas

CANONSBURG - A senior executive of NiSource has been tapped to lead the company's Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania and Columbia Gas of Maryland subsidiaries, NiSource said Wednesday.

M. Carol Fox, will serve as president of the two subsidiaries that serve 446,000 natural gas customers in 29 counties throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Fox, who will work out of Columbia's headquarters in Southpointe, succeeds Terry Murphy, who will help her become acclimated to her new position as he transitions into retirement early next year.

She comes to CPA and CMD after serving in a variety of senior executive positions at NiSource, where she most recently was senior vice president of customer engagement, responsible for all customer functions for NiSource's gas distribution companies in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Ohio and Virginia.

Home improvement registration begins

PITTSBURGH - State Attorney General Tom Corbett says a law requiring home improvement contractors to register with his office is now in effect.

The requirement began Wednesday and applies to any contractor who does more than $5,000 worth of home improvements annually.

Corbett will be in Pittsburgh Thursday for a news conference to call attention to the new requirement.

Homeowners can now check to see if a contractor is registered by visiting Corbett's Web site, www.attorneygeneral.gov or by calling 1-888-520-6680.
