Pitt to play Indiana in Jimmy V Classic

The Pitt men's basketball team will play traditional power Indiana in the 15th Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN.

It marks Pitt's second appearance in the Jimmy V Classic. The Panthers last appeared was in 2004, when they beat Memphis, 70-51.

Since the 2000-01 season, Pitt has a 23-9 record at Madison Square Garden.

The Jimmy V Classic was created in memory of former North Carolina State men's basketball coach Jim Valvano, who died from cancer in 1993. The event, which includes a game between Georgetown and Butler before the Pitt game, raises money for cancer research.
