A minivan driven by Daniel Antoniak, 72, crossed the center line on Route 130 about 3:15 p.m. and struck a sport utility vehicle, Penn Township police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Ruth Antoniak, 68, who was a front-seat passenger, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, Forbes Campus, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, William Hahn, 58, of Pittsburgh, was taken to UPMC-Mercy. Police said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The Antoniaks are parents of Observer-Reporter staff writer Linda Metz. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Graziano Funeral Home, Jeannette.
