CARROLL TOWNSHIP

Woman arrested: Kristin Mossburg, 25, of 79 Marion Villa, Belle Vernon, was arrested Thursday afternoon by Carroll police, accused of stealing items from Fisher Heights Giant Eagle.

Police said she got into a waiting vehicle and backed up in the direction of a store employee who was trying to write down her license number. He was able to get out of the way.

Mossburg was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of retail theft and aggravated assault. She was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.

NORTH FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP

Money, drinks stolen: North Franklin police said $100 and soft drinks were stolen from a vending machine at Days Inn, 1370 W. Chestnut St.

Vandalism reported: North Franklin police said vandals sprayed yellow paint on a garage door, hot tub cover, windows, driveway and storm door at several homes in the Walnut Ridge plan early Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-228-9610.

Camera stolen: Justin Lonchar of Clinton told North Franklin police Sunday that his waterproof Olympus camera was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at Washington Crown Center.

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP

Charged in assault: Michael F. Bruce III, 22, of 522 Chartiers Ave., Canonsburg, was arrested early Friday by North Strabane police after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend out of his moving pickup truck.

Samantha Jo Rectenwald, 22, told police the truck was going about 20 to 25 mph when he pushed her out on Foxchase Drive near her home. She was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital for treatment of injuries to the left side of her body.

Bruce was arraigned via video before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Vandalism reported: James A. Zullo Jr., 138 View Ave., discovered vandals sprayed paint on his home Friday, North Strabane police said.

PETERS TOWNSHIP

Drug charges: Lee T. Volensky, 25, was charged with retail theft and possession of a controlled substance, township police said.

Volensky, of McKnight Drive, Bethel Park, was an employee of Rite Aid, 4185 Washington Road. An internal audit found a shortage of the prescription medication Hydrocodone that was traced to Volensky, police said.

He was arrested at 3:03 p.m. Thursday. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Attempted theft: A resident of the 100 block of Candlelite Drive, McMurray, told police he was working with the window open in an upstairs room of his house at 4:06 a.m. Friday when he heard someone attempting to enter his locked minivan outside by flipping the door handles, township police said.

When the resident looked outside, he heard one person running from the van, police said. No one was found and the van was not entered, police said.

SOUTH FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP

PFA, DUI charges: James T. Salisbury, 49, of Eighty Four, was charged with violating a protection-from-abuse order and driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from an incident early Thursday.

He is accused of going to the home of Traci Lynn Salisbury, 25 South Old Plank Road, South Franklin. Police later stopped him near Route 18 and Ramsey Road, North Franklin, and determined he was intoxicated. His license also was suspended for a prior DUI conviction.

Salisbury was arraigned before Senior District Judge Jay Dutton and placed in Washington County Jail on $12,000 bond.

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP

Wheels, tires stolen: South Strabane police are looking for two men who stole four chrome wheels and tires from a 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck about 3 a.m. Thursday at Washington Chevrolet.

Police said the thieves jacked up the truck to remove the tires. The thieves appear to have been in a late-model, four-door Ford F150 crew cab. The tires are valued at $3,800. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-225-8111.

SPEERS

Two injured: Megan McMillen, 22, of Monessen, and Nancy Toler, 52, of Clinton, were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 at the Speers exit.

State police said a truck driven by Ivan Doane, 54, of Salisbury, Md., hit McMillen's car from behind. McMillen and Toler were taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment.

WEST FINLEY TOWNSHIP

Truck hits tree: Brandon McKeag of Washington escaped injury Thursday when his pickup truck went off Majorsville Road, West Finley, and hit a tree about 6:30 p.m., state police said.
