Park gets new playground equipment

GREENSBORO - Mon View Park in Greensboro has some new playground equipment.

The new, colorful playground equipment features several slides, rope ladders and a climbing wall and will replace existing equipment previously purchased for the park in the 1950s.

Mon View Park, located at 377 Stoney Hill Road, is a favorite place to hold yearly family reunions, church picnics and birthday parties. The park showcases its newly renovated roller rink, a 200,000-gallon T-shaped pool, a volleyball court, pavilion rental, horse shoes and a children's sandbox.

The park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Pool hours are from 1 to 7 p.m. Roller rink summer hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the fall schedule featuring an under-17 dance with a DJ on the second Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. Fall hours will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Private rental of the facility is available for individual, group and business use during non-scheduled times.

Safety, fun and memories are paramount at Mon View. The county's department of recreation is committed to continue updating this community favorite along the Monongahela River.

Funding for the new and restored equipment was made possible by the Greene County commissioners and with state grants.
