Grace Artinger, 99, formerly of Bellevue, Pittsburgh, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg.
She was born Monday, June 28, 1909, in Roundbottom, W.Va., a daughter of Elijah S. and Ona D. Snider Patterson.
Mrs. Artinger was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
She was a homemaker and worked for several years as a beautician, owning and operating two separate shops.
Her first husband, Paul Long, died in 1950. Her second husband, William Artinger, died in 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Marlene and husband John Clark of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Paul and Gary Stanley and Scott and Susan Cole; seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Patty Stanley; two sisters, Sudie McClellan and Lillian Elizabeth Keener; and a brother, Scott Patterson.

Canon-Mac grad co-founded company
Richard Roy Beitle, 49, of New Vernon, N.J., died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, following a difficult battle with ALS.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marcy; two daughters, Lily and Lucy; his mother and father, Gail and Roy Beitle; grandmother Martha Beitle; three siblings, Debra Graham, Lisa Bushmire and Ron Beitle; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
After graduating from Canon-McMillan High School in 1977, he received a degree in civil engineering from TriState University in Angola, Ind.
He was a founding partner in The Reynolds Group and served as vice president until leaving in March.

Homemaker, McGuffey school bus driver
Victoria Campbell, 74, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born January 31, 1934, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Charles and Frances Raczkonska Kurnick.
Mrs. Campbell graduated from Cecil High School in 1951 and attended California State Teachers College.
She was a homemaker and a school bus driver for 13 years in McGuffey School District for Swartz Bus Co.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of Avery United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl L. Sumner of Sunberry, Ohio; five sons, Joseph C. Meneskie of Utah, William J. Campbell of San Ramon, Calif., Walter M. Campbell of Baltimore, Md., David C. Campbell of Farmington and John D. Campbell of Washington; and 21 grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Ralph Kurnick, Tom Kurnick and Emil Browsky, and five sisters, Genieve Green, Irene Janda, Frances Mikec, Cornelia Walker and Viola Shell.

Richard A. Haberstroh, 71, of Eighty Four, formerly of York, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
He was born December 3, 1936, in Columbia, a son of Charles Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth Seyler Haberstroh.
Mr. Haberstroh was employed by Westinghouse Electric for 25 years and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Reimold) Haberstroh; a daughter, Renee (David) Ghilani of Peters Township; grandchildren Ryan, Richard, David and Kelly; and brothers Charles Haberstroh Jr. of Gettysburg and James Haberstroh of York.

RALPH R. KIGER JR.
Army veteran, retired coal miner
Ralph R. "Sonny" Kiger Jr., 75, of Waynesburg, formerly of Holbrook, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
He was born January 2, 1933, in Kirby, a son of Ralph R. Kiger Sr. and Ethel L. Kimbel Kiger.
Mr. Kiger was first married to Joan (Sue) Lemley, who is deceased. On March 27, 1995, he married Carol Kramer Kiger, who died November 2, 1995.
Surviving is his loving companion, Grace Conklin.
Mr. Kiger was a retired coal miner, working at Mather, Osage and Blacksville mines, until his retirement in 1988. He had also worked as a federal mine inspector and as a mechanic for Henason Trucking, Canonsburg.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Kiger was a member of Rolling Meadows Church of God, American Legion Post 330 and Disabled American Veterans 123 and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, all of Waynesburg. He was a life member of United Mine Workers of America.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving, in addition to his companion, are five children, Steve (Kathy) Kiger, Susan (Bob) Bittner, Kathy (Don) Evans, Ed (Mary) Kiger and Rebel (Michelle) Kiger; three stepchildren, Amy (Buck) Palmer, Mark Kramer and Ronnie Kramer; nine grandchildren, Luke (Kelly) Kiger, Alison Kiger, B.J. (Crista) Bittner, Brandy (Rick) Proctor, Amber (Mark) Moeckel, Kevin (Brianna) Evans, Kimberly (Nathan) Polen, Josh (companion Melissa Roupe) Kiger and Jeremiah (Alisha) Kiger; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a sister, Patty Clipper; and a brother, Charles McConnell.
Deceased is a grandson.

Todd Michael Leoni, 41, of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008.
He was born June 11, 1967, in New Eagle, a son of Dolores Tokosh Leoni of Bentleyville and the late Quindo Leoni, who died June 29, 2008.
Mr. Leoni was a member of St. Sebastian's Church in Belle Vernon.
For the past eight years, he was employed by PNC Bank in Robison Township, where he last was a data transmission coordinator. In his younger years, while in high school, he enjoyed playing the drums. He also had an interest in karate and enjoyed riding ATVs, working on the farm and collecting magnets.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Jennifer Roman Leoni, with whom he celebrated 15 years of marriage April 17, 2008; two brothers, Orlando Keith Leoni and wife Jackie of Bentleyville and Quinn Leoni and wife Christy of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Marion Ogrodowski of the state of California; father and mother-in-law James and Jeri Baron Roman of Monongahela; two brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Roman and wife Holly of Rostraver and Jimmy Roman and wife Jeanne of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.

Ethel L. Miller, 73, of Carmichaels, died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 25, 1934, in Redstone Township, Fayette County, a daughter of Walter Lee and Mollie Rebecca Knisely Miller.
Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School and worked as a legal secretary for the Commonweath of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. She later moved back and worked for several attorneys in Waynesburg.
She enjoyed baking, working in her flower gardens and playing bingo.
Mrs. Miller was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carmichaels.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherri L. Miller of Carmichaels; a brother, Earl E. Miller and wife Wanda of Carmichaels; a sister, Dolores M. (Dee) Ruth and husband Bill of Carmichaels; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She also leaves a special friend, Joyce Lund of Carmichaels.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a son, Earl Edmond Bradmon, who died in infancy, and two sisters, Nita Lee Bobruska and Shirley Ann Miller, who died in infancy.

Helen G. Nelson, 96, of Charleroi, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born December 19, 1911, in Charleroi, a daughter of Purman and Amber Shunk Keys.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Charleroi, a life member of Chip-pewa Ladies Golf League and a former member of Ladies Auxiliary of Mon Valley Hospital.
She was the last surviving member of the Keys girls.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Jerilyn Nelson of Vesta 6; and three daughters, Amber and Leon VanVarenberg of Oviedo, Fla., Sally and Jack Conner of Richeyville and Jean and John "Babe" Merlo of Charleroi; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Yngve (Pap) Nelson, in 2002; two sisters, Edith Breuer and Ruth Riggle; and two brothers, Clyde and Howard Keys.

Dynamet Corp. mill worker was avid Steelers fan
Albert Wayne Plants, 59, of Washington, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in Washington Hospital.
He was born February 7, 1949, in Washington, a son of Catherine P. Crouser Plants of Washington and the late John Kelly Plants.
Mr. Plants was a mill worker at Dynamet Corp. for 28 years.
He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and sports and was an avid Steelers fan.
Mr. Plants was a member of the Arms Club and a former member of LOOM 22.
He was Methodist.
On August 29, 1969, he married Debra Weaver, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert Wayne (Bridgette) Plants of West Alexander, Christopher S. (Shannon) Plants of Marianna and Jonathan Winston (Carrie) Plants of Shadyside, Ohio; two brothers, John Kelley (Patty) Plants Jr. of Washington and Mr. Plants' twin, Robert E. (Marilyn) Plants of Washington; and six grandchildren, Robbie, Katie, Dillan, Aaron, Tyler and Madison.

WILMA K. WHITEMAN
Former "Blue Angel" enjoyed reading, quilting
Wilma K. Whiteman, 97, of Wind Ridge, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg.
She was born February 25, 1911, in Richhill Township (Long Run), a daughter of Thomas Rose Kinney and Laura Belle Wendell Tharp Kinney Cooper.
Mrs. Whiteman had resided in Snow Shoe for 30 years prior to returning to Greene County in 1977.
A 1929 graduate of the former Richhill Township High School, she was a member of Wind Ridge Christian Church but attended Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge for several years.
Mrs. Whiteman was a member of Richhill Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, American Legion Post 330 in Waynesburg and AARP.
She enjoyed reading and quilting.
Mrs. Whiteman was employed by the former Headley and Spragg Drug Store and Waynesburg Restaurant prior to being employed by Penn State University as a counter attendant in the cafeteria for 13 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving as a tech 5 with the 63rd WAC Hospital Company, and was proud of the nickname "Blue Angels" applied to the women in the medical support services.
On March 7, 1946, she married Marlin Roland "Muz" Whiteman, who died April 21, 1976.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, with the Rev. William Parker officiating. Interment will be private in Centre County Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Wind Ridge Christian Church or Harmony U.P. Church, Wind Ridge, PA 15380.

WWII vet was elder at Whitehall Church
Eugene B. Yohe Jr., 92, of Strabane Woods, Washington, formerly of Whitehall, died peacefully Wednesday, August 27, 2008.
He was born August 12, 1916, in Pittsburgh, a son of Eugene B. Sr. and Margaret Taylor Yohe.
He was the husband of 50 years of the late Genevieve W. Weiss Yohe; father of Thom A. (Carol) Yohe of Washington; grandfather of Jason (Beth) Yohe of Cartersville, Ga., Ryan Yohe of Columbus, Ohio, and Devin Yohe of Atlanta, Ga.; brother of the late Harold Taylor of Pittsburgh; and uncle of Barbara Taylor of Mt. Lebanon and Keith and James Herkenrother of North Hills.
Mr. Yohe was vice president/treasurer of Paper Craft Corp., Pittsburgh.
He was a graduate of Brentwood High School and the University of Pittsburgh and performed counterintelligence in World War II from 1941 to 1945, serving in North Africa. He was awarded a commendation from British intelligence.
He was a member of Golden Sphinx and an elder at Whitehall Presbyterian Church.
