Dorotha Helen Kujawa, 87, of Washington, formerly Pleasant Valley, Fairmont, W.Va., died Sunday, November 25, 2007, in Consulate Health Care, Canonsburg, following a one-year illness.

She was born April 23, 1920, in Fairmont, a daughter of Hubert D. and Edna Alta Travis Hull.

Mrs. Kujawa was a member of West Washington United Methodist Church. She had worked in the ladies department at J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and was a homemaker.

On May 22, 1942, she married Elias F. Kujawa, who died November 17, 1995.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Paul (Janet) Kujawa of Washington; a brother, Robert Carroll Hull of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Jenifer Lyn McAndrews and Stasey Ellis Reynolds; a great-granddaughter, Julia Grace McAndrews; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Beverly Ann Reynolds; and a sister, Ida Lou Wilson.

FRANK J. LOSKO

WWII Army veteran was

mechanic, road supervisor

Frank J. Losko, 91, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Greenery Skilled Nursing, Canonsburg.

He was born January 8, 1916, in Westland, a son of Michael and Nellie Gazda Losko.

Mr. Losko entered the U.S. Army November 19, 1942, serving during World War II in the Caribbean and receiving the World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged November 4, 1945.

A longtime mechanic, he operated Losko Transmission for 14 years, previously worked at Patsch Garage and Fulton Garage and drove bus for Chartiers and Beth-Center school districts. He last worked as a road supervisor for Deemston Borough.

Mr. Losko was co-founder of South Strabane Volunteer Fire Department 2 and also had served as president.

He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 19, Canonsburg.

On May 29, 1947, he married Jane Parker, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, George F. Losko of Durham, N.C.; two sisters, Antoinette Phillips and Lila Christy, both of Canonsburg; a granddaughter, Melissa Losko; a great-grandson, Elijah "Jake" Losko; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Leonora Losko; a brother, John Losko; and two sisters, Helen Popeck and Sophie Miesiac.

Former groom at Meadows racetrack enjoyed fishing

Dennis Wray Huffman, 49, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Friday, November 23, 2007, in his home.

He was born March 29, 1958, in Washington, a son of Francis Delmar and Edith Hutter Huffman.

Mr. Huffman was once a groom at The Meadows racetrack in Meadow Lands.

He was Methodist. He enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and was an avid Steelers fan.

Surviving are a brother, Kenny (Robin) Huffman of Washington; two sisters, Linda (Dave) Rugg and Christy Clutter, both of Washington; a nephew, Zachary Rugg; and two nieces, Amanda Rugg and Jennifer Huffman.

Deceased is a nephew, Derek Huffman.

Rita Christina Close, 77, of Claysville, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness.

She was born August 19, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Frank and Anna Vulchak Krolczyk.

Mrs. Close was Lutheran. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, crocheting and knitting.

On June 6, 1956, she married Irvin Lee Close, who died April 24, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel R. (JoAnn) Close of Prosperity and Wayne E. (Teri) Close of Washington; two daughters, Cynthia Lee (Stephen) Smith of Washington and Lori Lynn (Terry) Schultz of Lock Haven; two sisters, Dorothy Krieger of Pittsburgh and Bernadette "Bebe" Johnson of Cecil; and 11 grandchildren, Renee, Matthew, Nathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Emily, Aaron, Daniel, Abigail, Melissa and Kayla.

WWII Navy vet was A&P Supermarket manager

Metro Podolek, 83, of Washington, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Canonsburg General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 18, 1924, a son of Anthony and Cecelia Polynick Podolec.

Mr. Podolek attended Washington High School and worked at Tygart Valley Glass Co. in Washington before entering the U.S. Navy, April 5, 1943, having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater with the Third Amphibious Forces. He was honorably discharged May 23, 1945.

He was manager at A&P Supermarket for 33 years and had worked at Industrial Gasket and Shim Co. Inc.

Mr. Podolek was a beloved father, who was an avid hunter and enjoyed golf. He was a member of the Pulaski Club.

His first wife, Rita Mercedes Mollanauer, whom he married January 1, 1948, died March 16, 1979.

On December 15, 1979, he married Dolores V. Mele, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Mark A. Podolek of Washington, Michael R. (Cherie) Podolek of Henryville and David Miller of Washington; two daughters, Antionette M. (Joseph) Schmitz of Odenton, Md., and Deborah (Charles) Browl of Carmichaels; a sister, Olga Gray of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Amy, Kevin, Matthew, Nick, Hope, Tyler, Ryan, Suzanne, Michelle, Holly and Christa; and a great-grandson, Warren.

Deceased is a brother, Peter Podolec.

Mary E. Moyers, 50, of Washington, died Sunday, November 25, 2007, in her home.

She was born Wednesday, February 13, 1957, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Helen Paul Bain.

Mrs. Moyers attended Canon-McMillan schools and received a nursing assistant degree from Sawyer School.

Prior to her illness, she worked as a nurse's aide for Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are her husband, William R. Moyers; a son, Shane Moyers of Pittsburgh; a brother, Mikoal Daily of Ames, Iowa; a sister, Elaine Gentry of Crafton; and two grandsons, Garrett William and Daniel Murphy Moyers.

Dorothy Donnis Thompson Gregg died Saturday, November 24, 2007.

She was born November 1, 1927, in Houston, a daughter of Arthur Raymond and Irene Leanna Rogers Thompson.

Mrs. Gregg lived most of her life in the Southwestern Pennsylvania area, relocating in 1985 to Falling Waters, W.Va.

She retired from Medtak Inc. in September 1997.

Mrs. Gregg attended Bethel Assembly of God in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Surviving are a brother, Ralph Thompson of Canonsburg; daughters Susan E. Taksa and Patricia A. Presky of Falling Waters, Mary L. Peeler of Pauline, S.C., and Cindy L. Barberio of Pittsburgh; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two sons, James Fortner Gregg and Joseph Michael Gregg; her sister, Alma Cederquist; and two brothers, Howard and James Thompson.

WWII Army vet, 40-year Jessop Steel employee

George B. Kline, 92, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Washington Hospital.

He was born Thursday, May 6, 1915, in Uniontown.

Mr. Kline served with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II and was an electric furnace operator at Jessop Steel for 40 years.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruth O'Bosky and Ethel O'Donnell, both of Canonsburg, and Betty Skwarlo (Joseph Wayne) of Washington; four grandchildren, James O'Bosky II, Stefani Jazudek, Jennifer Jo Manners and George J. Kline Mabrey; and three great-grandchildren, Brittani, Austin and Hannah.

Deceased are his wife, Ruth G. Reynolds Kline, who died in 1995; and a son, George Joseph Kline, who died in 1963.

GLENN R. JACOBS

Korean War Army veteran, Columbia Gas retiree

Glenn R. "DoodleBug" Jacobs, 72, of Center Township (Rutan), died at 4 a.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007, in his home, after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in August.

He was born May 30, 1935, in Jackson Township (Bristoria), a son of Cecil Ray and Jeneva Letha White Jacobs. He had resided in the Rutan area since 1970.

Mr. Jacobs was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Graysville, Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM and Greene County Farm Bureau.

He was 1953 graduate of Richhill Township High School.

Mr. Jacobs was a former employee of Marianna and Scenery Hill telephone company. Prior to retiring in 1997, he was last employed as a heavy equipment operator by Columbia Gas Co., Waynesburg, for 22 years.

He was a member of Local 66 Operating Engineers and enjoyed raising Polled Hereford cattle as long as his health permitted.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army as a SP3 in the Signal Corps.

On May 14, 1958, he married Patricia Ann Mason, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Greg. G. Jacobs; and a daughter, Melinda Taylor, both of Center Township (Rutan); a stepson, Robert and wife Cathy Holmes of Fairmont, W.Va.; four brothers, Eugene and wife Velma Jacobs of Graysville, Merrill and wife Carol Jacobs of Holbrook, Shirl Jacobs of Mather and Francis and wife Bonnie Jacobs of Center Township (Rutan); three sisters, Mary Lou and husband Eugene Hughes of Graysville, Marilyn and husband Thomas Pietras of Warren, Ohio, and Judy and husband Darrell McMasters of Southington, Ohio; a granddaughter, Megan Taylor; and two stepgrandsons, Drew and David Holmes.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Shirley Jacobs, who died at birth; and a brother, John Jacobs.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or services. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Hospice Care of Washington Hospital Inc., 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301; or Fairview U.M. Church, Graysville, PA 15337. WWII veteran was

McGraw-Edison retiree

Joseph D'Amico, 92, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

He was born November 9, 1915, in Canonsburg, a son of Samuel and Florence D'Amico.

Mr. D'Amico lived his entire life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Church. In his youth, he played semi-pro football with DeFilippo Barber's team and had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Prior to retirement, he was employed in the electrical finish department at the former McGraw-Edison Power Systems, Canonsburg.

On March 5, 1944, he married Mary Rose Merovich, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda (Barry) Andrews of Washington, Patricia Karner of Eighty Four and Nancy D'Amico of Pittsburgh; a son, Jerry (Mary) D'Amico of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Scott and Joe Cullen, Jody Quinlan, Dennis Karner Jr. and Jessica and Matt D'Amico; two great-grandchildren, Dillion Karner and Remington Quinlan; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. D'Amico was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are three brothers, Tony, Mike and Dominick D'Amico; and six sisters, Rose Cammarata, Mary Accetturo, Jay Simon, Lucy Simon, Lee Foley and Julia Bradley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
