Vandals in four-wheel drive vehicles tore “deep, muddy ruts” in the Avella High School football field earlier this month and caused $8,000 in damages, the district superintendent said.
Superintendent Wayde Killmeyer said the vandals drove the vehicles onto the field in the early hours of April 5 and “tore it up.”
State police are investigating, but could not be reached for comment. Killmeyer said investigators have suspects, possibly ex-students, but did not know their names or when police might file charges.
