Retired teacher
and librarian
Dolores H. Knesel, 82, of Miami, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, in her home, with family gathered by her bedside.
A graduate from Carnegie Tech, she worked as a teacher and librarian for more than 43 years, first at Coral Gables High School, then retiring from Palmetto Senior.
Known as "Dee," she maintained a loving friendship with her ex-husband, Larry Knesel, throughout her days and lived a life filled with travel, literature and her favorite soap opera, "General Hospital."
She will be long remembered as a loving mother to her three children, Sherry, Kris and John Charles (J.C.), who died December 26, 1984. She also was known as "Mom" to Kris' wife Susy and J.C.'s wife Annette, as well as "Grandma Dee" to Dena, Daniel, Megan, Travis and Tim.
It has been said that as long as someone speaks your name, you will not be forgotten and Mrs. Knesel - a mother, grandmother and dearest friend - will forever live in hearts, minds, spirits and souls and will never be forgotten.
Visitation was held Wednesday in Stanfill Funeral Home, 10545 South Dixie Highway, Miami, Fla. Additional visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6. Interment will be held in Beallsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Hope Worldwide (in memo: per Dolores H. Knesel - Afghanistan), 353 West Lancaster Avenue, Suite 200, Wayne, PA 19087.
