McGuffey student, National Honor Society member
Olivia Jean Griffin Scott, 17, of Washington, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born December 31, 1991, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Marc and Ann Griffin Scott of Washington.
Miss Scott was a junior at McGuffey High School, where she earned three letters in volleyball and was a member of the track team and National Honor Society.
She worked at Brownson House.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Jonathon and Patrick Scott; paternal grandfather James Scott of Washington; maternal grandfather John Griffin of Boca Raton, Fla.; three uncles, John and Patrick Griffin and Shawn Scott; three aunts, Rebecca (David) Cokeley, Dianne (Richard) Meister and Susan (Art) Craig; and seven cousins, Benjamin, Sarah and Taylor Cokeley, William, Scott and Steve Craig and Amanda Meister.
Deceased are her paternal grandmother, Norma Jean Scott, and her maternal grandmother, Jean Griffin.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hummell and Barnhill Funeral Home Inc., 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Olivia Scott Foundation c/o Jessop Community Federal Credit Union, 1100 Green Street, Washington, PA.
