The U.S. Department of Justice grants totaling $198,863 in the county may be used to buy uniforms, radios, computers, protective vests and weapons, U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-12th District, announced.
The local departments approved for the funds are as follows: California Borough, $20,000; California University of Pennsylvania police: $17,775; Carroll Township, $20,000; Centerville, $19,000; Charleroi, $21,000; Donora, $10,450; East Bethlehem Township, $8,900; Fallowfield Township, $19,000; Houston, $5,326; North Charleroi, $10,112; RESA Regional, $10,800; South Strabane Township, $17,500; and West Brownsville, $19,000.
