The South Fayette boys basketball team has a long trip for its first-round game in the PIAA playoffs. The Washington girls team, however, doesn't have to leave Washington County.

The Lions (20-6) will travel Saturday to Clarion University and play Cranberry (17-10), the District 9 champion. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.

Washington (24-2) won't spend nearly as much time on the bus. The Prexies will travel Friday to Charleroi for their game against Bishop McCort (26-2), the District 6 runner-up. Tip-off is 6 p.m.

The Canon-McMillan boys (18-8), making their first appearance in the PIAA playoffs, play Section 4 rival Moon (20-7) Saturday (3 p.m.) at North Allegheny. The Peters Township girls (20-8) play 6 p.m. Friday against New Castle (19-6) at North Hills.

Bentworth (17-8) also plays Friday (6 p.m.), against District 5 champion Southern Fulton at Chestnut Ridge High School in New Paris.
