College basketball: Wilson leads Jackets over Thomas More

In his 100th career start, Beau Wilson netted a game-high 22 points and made four three-point field goals as Waynesburg remained ahead of Thomas More in the PAC standings with an 89-77 victory Thursday night at Marisa Fieldhouse.

Wilson got plenty of help from Trinity High School graduate Tim Drakeley, who came of the bench to score 17 points in only 21 minutes. Marc Lodovico added 11 points for the Yellow Jackets (11-12, 4-8).

Waynesburg led 68-38 with 13:20 remaining.

Matt Tierney led Thomas More (3-21, 3-8) with 15 points, while Ed Thornton added 14. Thomas More committed 18 turnovers and had seven assists.

Women

Washington & Jefferson 67, Grove City 49: Washington & Jefferson continued its dominance over Grove City, defeating the for the fifth consecutive time in a 67-49 win at Henry Memorial Center.

W&J (9-2, 17-7) was strong inside and outside. The Presidents dominated in the paint, outscoring Grove City 32-16 while hitting four of seven three-pointers.

Reserve Maria Hillenbrand had 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Emily Hays led a balanced attack with 12 points. Kaleigh Bangor also added 10 points in the win.

Rachel McCoy had game-highs of 15 points and 13 rebounds for Grove City (2-9, 5-18).


Thomas More 65, Waynesburg 53: Thomas More made 22 of 27 foul shots and that proved to be the difference in a 65-53 win at Waynesburg.

Megan Wood made all six of her foul shots in her 14-point game. She also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Brooke Warner was 10 of 11 from the line as she also scored 14 points. Jenna Kelsch added 12 points for Thomas More (9-2, 19-4).

Michaelene Jones led Waynesburg (3-9, 8-15) with a game-high 16 pointsand Katie Lewandowski added 10 points.
