Five local wrestlers in classic

Five local wrestlers were selected to compete on the WPIAL team that will take on West Virginia in Sunday's Pittsburgh's Wrestling Classic at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House.

The WPIAL's bout is at 2 p.m. and the United States will wrestle Pennsylvania at 4 p.m.

Ron Schram of Canon-McMillan was picked at 112 pounds; Avella's Mitch Spencer is at 135 and Kyle Appleby will start at 152; Beth-Center's Cody Catalina got the nod at 171; and Burgettstown's Ryan Watson was chosen for 215.

Six WPIAL wrestler who captured state championships at Hershey Saturday were picked for the Pennsylvania team. They include Anthony Zanetta (112) of Keystone Oaks, Shane Young (119) of Penn Trafford; Joe Waltko (130) of North Allegheny; Joey Walters (135) of Latrobe; Dane Johnson (140) of Shady Side Academy and Jake Kemerer (160) of Hempfield.
