Four people appeared in Washington County Court Wednesday on criminal charges.

Appearing before Judge Janet Moschetta Bell were:

Louis Phillips, 33, of 126 Wigington Road, Claysville; retail theft, third or subsequent offense; charged Dec. 11 after stealing a DVD from Giant Eagle, 331 Washington Road, South Strabane Township; sentence - 23 months in the Restrictive Intermediate Punishment program with the first 90 days on electronic monitoring, report to inpatient drug treatment March 23, followed by probation, no contact with Giant Eagle, drug and alcohol assessment and any recommended treatment and restitution to Giant Eagle of $19.95.

Shawn E. Rogers, 32, of an unknown address in Washington and currently an inmate at the State Correctional Institute at Greene; criminal conspiracy to commit access device fraud and access device fraud; charged after stealing a credit card from a shopper at a South Strabane discount chain July 18, and using the card 12 times to purchase gasoline and cigarettes; sentence - 2 to 4 years in a state penitentiary consecutive to his current sentence, restitution is being paid by a co-defendant.

Eugene Grimm, 48, of 253 Stone Church Road, Finleyville; first offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving on a suspended license; charged following a traffic stop July 3 on an exit ramp of Interstate 70 in South Strabane Township, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.162 percent and discovery of a small amount of marijuana in his pocket. The state presumes intoxication at 0.08 percent; sentence - 4 days to 6 months in jail, effective April 10 on two consecutive weekends, drug and alcohol assessment, attend safe driving school, 12-month license suspension and $200 fine.

One woman was admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for first-time offenders. If she successfully completes the program, she can petition to have her criminal record expunged.

Erica Williams, 20, of 356 E. Barr St., McDonald, was admitted for 12 months on a charge of a first DUI and underage drinking. She was charged June 25 on Walnut Street, Midway, with a BAC of 0.026 percent. For those under 21, intoxication is presumed at 0.02 percent. She must attend safe-driving school, have her license suspended for 80 days and undergo a drug and alcohol assessment.

20 yr old dui : 3/23/2009
Why does a 20 yr old only get license suspended for 80 days when most are a year plus she was under age. Just dont seem right for a young person getting off that easy
