84 Lumber announces more store closings

84 Lumber Co. said Monday it has closed nine stores as a result of consolidations in six markets.

The announcement came just 11 days after the country's largest privately held supplier of building materials announced additional layoffs at its Eighty Four headquarters.

The nine stores closed as a result of consolidation are in Frederick, Md.; Seabrook, Md.; Omaha, Neb.; Covington, Ga.; Loveland, Colo.; Tampa, Fla.; Sarasota, Fla.; and two locations in Sacramento, Calif. A tenth store in Santa Rosa, Calif., will close due to a drop in home starts.
