An Oakdale man was killed Tuesday in Hanover Township when the motorcycle he was driving went off Old Steubenville Pike and crashed into a tree.

Richard John Huellen, 58, of Cottonwood Drive, was riding alone at the time of the crash.

The accident happened at 7:30 p.m., when the motorcycle, which was traveling west on Old Steubenville Pike, two miles east of Route 18, veered off the westbound lane and struck the tree.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco said the cause of death is pending autopsy and further investigation by Hanover Township police.

Warco pronounced Huellen dead at the scene of the crash at 8:43 p.m.

Tuesday’s fatality brings to five the number of vehicle accident fatalities in Washington County this year, the first involving a motorcyclist.
