A Dunlevy man told Southwest Regional police that another motorist fired shots at his vehicle and chased him on Route 88 through several communities Wednesday night.

Michael Bowman, 29, of 9 Mulberry Lane, told police that the driver of a gold Toyota Corolla with a black protective bra on the front started chasing him. The front of the car was damaged.

"The incident appears to have originated on High Point Road in California, proceeded through Long Branch and into Dunlevy," police Chief John Dale Hartman said Thursday. "They traveled at speeds upward of 90 mph."

The driver, who was black with braided hair, began to wave a handgun out the window and fired multiple shots as the pursuit continued on Route 88. The shooting happened in the area of New Porky's Bar.

Hartman said police are not certain what provoked the shooting.

"His car was not struck by any bullets nor was he hit," Hartman said.

Bowman went to his home, where he called Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport police. Southwest police were notified after it was determined the incident occurred in their coverage area.

Charleroi police then stopped a vehicle matching the description, which was seen near Lincoln Avenue and Second Street. The officer saw the driver of the stopped car handing something to another man standing at the passenger window.

The driver, identified as Jason T. Allen, 31, of Belle Vernon, then left, going through a red light before stopping. Police arrested him on drug charges after finding suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Hartman said Allen, who is bald, is not a suspect in the shooting.

Allen was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Anyone with information on the suspect or suspect vehicle is asked to call police at 724-929-8484.
