High school baseball

Drew Guarino had two doubles and a triple as Ringgold came from behind to beat Uniontown, 15-5, in a non-section game.

Adam Madar added two doubles, while Tyler Patch, Tom Bertlivich and Dave Bassi had one each for the Rams (4-7), who trailed 5-3 though five innings.

High school softball

Jaci Timko's two-run single highlighted a three-run fifth inning that was the difference for Chartiers-Houston in a 3-2 win over McGuffey in a non-section game.

Kiersten Conwell picked up the win for the Bucs (11-3), strikeout out nine and scattering six hits.



Sam Coffield, Sierra Spalding and Morgan Henderson tripled for McGuffey (4-6), while losing pitcher Allison Kleinhans allowed just three hits.

n Chrissy Pancratz had three hits - including a triple - drove in three runs and scored three times as California topped Monessen, 9-6, in a Section 1-A game.

Elizabeth Shaw added a double for the Trojans (2-6, 2-7), while Ashley Toia allowed just one hit.

Ashley Hartwig took the loss for Monessen (0-8, 0-9).

n Geri Whitman tossed a one-hit shutout and had a two-run triple in the first inning for Beth-Center in a 2-0 win over Brownsville in a Section 2-AA game.

Whitman struck out 13 and walked two for Beth-Center (6-1, 8-2).

Pony baseball

Jason Polland homered as Fairmont Supply defeated Elks, 19-6, in a Washington Pony game.

Winning pitcher Brandon Robertson, Jason Van Kirk and Jaylin Kelly added doubles for Fairmont (1-0).

Jacob Nicolella took the loss for Elks (0-1).

n Dylan Thomas hit an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Ace Sporting Goods a 10-9 win over Claysville in a Washington Pony game.

Nick Riotto was the winning pitcher for Ace (1-0). Kyle Hartzell was the losing pitching for Claysville (0-1).

n Chambers Insurance defeated Albert's Meats, 7-6, in the first Washington Pony game for both teams.

Tyler Bane, Tyler Roy and A.J. Crawford doubled and Jared Deep was the winning pitcher for Chambers Insurance.

Christian Umbach and Brandon Lesko doubled for Albert's Meats. Josh Langley was the losing pitcher.

College baseball

Waynesburg University split a doubleheader with Saint Vincent College, winning the opener 9-6, before dropping the nightcap, 23-6.

McGuffey graduate Zac Rhoades won the opener for Waynesburg (16-18), backed by a home run by Chartiers-Houston's Dan Novak.

St. Vincent (12-13) pounded out 21 hits to win the nightcap.

College softball

Chartiers-Houston graduate Tanesha Minney went a combined 4-for-6 and drove in three runs to help Washington & Jefferson to a doubleheader sweep of Waynesburg, 6-1 and 12-4, Saturday in President's Athletic Conference women's softball action.

Rebecca Nachreiner won the opener, firing a four-hitter with five strikeouts. She now has over 300 strikeouts in her career for the Presidents (24-6, 9-1).

Hannah Schultz, Minney, Amanda Howard and South Fayette graduate Ally Stasik doubled for the Presidents.

Waynesburg High School graduate Autumn Minor took the loss for Waynesburg (5-5, 13-15).

Georgia Schumacher got the win in the nightcap, allowing three hits with seven strikeouts.

Women's lacrosse

Anna Sody scored five goals as Marymount (Va.) defeated Washington & Jefferson, 17-4, in non-conference women's lacrosse action Saturday.

Freshman Courtney Schrock had all four goals for W&J (2-7).

n Emily Schallenberg scored four goals to lead Fontbonne (Mo.) to a 17-2 win over Waynesburg College in a non-conference match.

Heather Quinlisk and Steph Strauser scored goals for Waynesburg (0-7).

College track & field

Buddy Rose, a Chartiers-Houston graduate and junior at Slippery Rock, provisionally qualified for the Division II national championships in the decathlon Saturday at the IUP Open.

Rose scored 6,433 points and won three events, the 400 meters, shot put and 1,500 meters.
