Police say $18,000 theft paid for crack

South Strabane Township police arrested a North Franklin woman on allegations that she bilked at least $18,000 from an 85-year-old man over the past year.

Suzanne Marie Bumbera, 38, of 2920 W. Chestnut St., claimed that she needed the money for everything from car repairs to medical bills at a Pittsburgh hospital. But Bumbera told South Strabane police Detective John Bruner that most of the money went to buy crack.

She was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on a charge of theft by deception and placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.
