A South Strabane Township woman accused of hitting her 11-year-old daughter with a baseball bat was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on charges including aggravated assault.

Sandra Perelstine, 45, of 1394 N. Main St., was arrested April 19 by township police after they received a call from a neighbor who heard the confrontation between her and her daughter.

Perelstine had told police that she hit the girl with her foot and had held the wooden bat in her hand. The girl told police that her mother hit her in the eye, head and back several times with the bat. The girl also told police that she was slapped in the face, punched in the stomach and kicked.

Washington County Children and Youth Services took custody of the girl and two other children who were at the home.

District Judge Jay Weller also ordered Perelstine to stand trial on charges of reckless endangerment and simple assault.
