CALIFORNIA

Drug charges: Two 20-year-olds from West Virginia were charged with drug possession and underage possession of alcohol Friday night after a traffic stop in a California University of Pennsylvania parking lot.

Campus police charged Jeffrey David Fridley of Wellsburg R.D.3 and Scott Joseph Bonaventura of 102 Chips Lane, Follansbee, after finding pills and alcohol in a vehicle. They were arraigned before District Judge David Mark and were released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

The drug was identified as 3 1/2 blue roxycodone tablets. The men had 18 12-ounce containers of beer and a bottle of whiskey.

A Cal U. spokeswoman said neither is a student at the school.

CANONSBURG



Knife attack: Vynette Simmons, 22, of 427 Franklin Ave., Canonsburg, was taken to Washington Hospital after an incident at 6:15 p.m. Sunday at a group home.

Borough police said Simmons was eating dinner when she grabbed a knife and tried to stab herself in the stomach and on the arm. Simmons then tried to attack a group home employee, Prue Molinaro of Washington. Molinaro was able to get Simmons to the home's porch, yell for someone to call police and have her drop the knife. Molinaro told police she did not want to pursue charges. A Washington Hospital spokeswoman said she could not confirm or deny that Simmons was treated.

Theft charge: Randy Williams, 48, of 745 N. Main St., Houston, was charged with theft of scrap metal owned by McMurray Heating and Cooling, South Central Avenue, on April 29. Business owner Aaron Kaufman has a contract for removal of the scrap, but told police someone was stealing it.

Borough police also were filing a charge of criminal trespass with District Judge David Mark.

Phone stolen: Ashley Ferri of 614 Robinhood Lane, McMurray, reported to Canonsburg police that her cell phone was stolen Saturday from the coin-operated laundry at 154 West Pike St.

She left it there while using the laundry Saturday, and then headed for home. When she realized it was missing, she returned, but it was gone.

Dolly stolen: A hand truck was stolen Saturday from Little Joe's market, 125 N. Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg police said.

CENTERVILLE

Threats alleged: David Lewis Trusel, 24, of 327 Main St., Richeyville, was charged with threatening his wife, Alana Latitia, and her companion, Melissa Luketich, 18, of Ellsworth, with a gun Saturday morning outside his home.

State police charged Trusel with making terroristic threats, recklessly endangering other persons and simple assault. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark, who set bond at $25,000.

Luketich and a neighbor of the Trusels told police they saw Trusel with a gun. Trusel said he argued with Alana Trusel about her going out with his friend the night before. He told police he took a bullet from the gun and gave it to his wife, telling her, "Give that to your buddy."

CHARTIERS TOWNSHIP

Traffic stop: Chartiers Township police used pepper spray on a passenger deemed uncooperative during a traffic stop shortly before 4 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Arden Road and charged two occupants of the vehicle with summary offenses.

Clifford Miller, 59, of 509 East Francis Ave., Connellsville, was cited for disorderly conduct. Police said he refused several times to identify himself. Todd Miller, 32, of 112 East Painter St., Connellsville, was cited for having an open container of alcohol in the car. Clifford Miller was decontaminated by emergency service personnel.

ELLSWORTH

Harassment charge: John Douglas Santi of Ellsworth was cited by state police for harassment Friday night after he became involved in an argument with William James Clancy of Eighty Four at Mann's Lounge. Police said Santi, the bartender, threw a glass at Clancy after they argued over ice in Clancy's beer.

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP

Chain-reaction crash: Two drivers received minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident Sunday on Route 19 South near the traffic light at Meadowbrook Drive.

North Strabane Township police identified the drivers as Barbara Caton, 62, of 97 Ealy Road, West Alexander; Deborah Mazon, 56, of 345 Moon Road, Washington, and Marianne Shablosusky, 52, of Pittsburgh. Canonsburg General Hospital had no record of Caton being treated, but Mazon was treated and discharged, a spokeswoman said.

Woman cited: Jackie Gardner of Muse was cited for disorderly conduct by state police in Washington for yelling obscenities in the parking lot of King's Restaurant Saturday morning.

NOTTINGHAM TOWNSHIP

Vehicle hits pole: Brian J. Betke, 21, of Canonsburg, was treated at Canonsburg General Hospital and released after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole Sunday morning. State police said the accident occurred on Route 136 west of Sundust Road.

PETERS TOWNSHIP

Cash stolen: A resident of Edgar Lane reported to Peters Township police Friday night that someone had stolen $18,000 from a floor safe over the past two years.

Candy, change stolen: Peters Township Park and Recreation Department personnel discovered that a concession stand at Venetia Park, 800 Venetia Road, was entered between Thursday night and Friday morning, and $400 worth of candy, $40 in change and a cash box were stolen.

DUI charge: Scott R. McClintock, 25, of Alexander Drive, McMurray, will be charged with drunken driving in connection with an accident at 12:53 a.m. Sunday at the Sunoco Station, East McMurray Road near Donaldsons Crossroads, Peters Township police said. The sport utility driven by McClintock struck a protective pillar at the end of a row of gas pumps. McClintock was taken to Canonsburg General Hospital, where a spokeswoman said he was treated and released.

Pizzeria break-in: Someone lobbed a rock through the plate-glass window of Ollie's Pizza, 1009 Waterdam Plaza, and stole about $17 from a cash register drawer, Peters Township police said. The break-in occurred between 11:15 p.m. Saturday and 6:20 a.m. Sunday.

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP

Burglary charge: Gary Stephen Allison, 54, formerly of 1406 Hidden Valley Drive, Bulger, was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in connection with a break-in Friday at his former home. McDonald police said.

Allison was evicted from Hidden Valley Trailer Court last month, but he returned to retrieve some belongings. Allison had been living in his car and a motel room. He was apprehended on Candor Road Friday and arraigned before District Judge David Mark, who set bond at $10,000.

SMITH TOWNSHIP

W.Va. man charged: Darel L. Tustin of 216 Old Oak Ave., Langeloth, told Smith Township police he was trying to avoid charges filed by police in Follansbee, W.Va., who issued arrest warrants for him in January. Follansbee police Chief John Schwertfeger said Tustin was charged with stalking and telephone harassment.

Tustin happened to be inside George's Restaurant and Pub, 1300 Main St., Burgettstown, when two officers entered at 8:30 p.m. Saturday to eat dinner. Tustin tried to lock himself in a rest room to avoid arrest, and he is charged with assaulting police officers who attempted to subdue him. Tustin was sprayed with pepper spray, according to documents filed with District Judge David Mark, who set bond at $25,000. Officers needed to be decontaminated by medical personnel because of the pepper spray. Officer Derek Dayoub suffered abrasions on his fingers and Tustin suffered a cut on his forehead during a scuffle.

Tustin was lodged in Washington County Jail.

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP

Golf course damaged: A case of criminal mischief turned out to be a civil matter between the owners of 84 Golf Center and a farmer. Police said they were called to the business at 16 Golf Course Drive Sunday morning and discovered that cows from a next-door farm had come onto the property and destroyed mulch and tee-off areas.

WASHINGTON

Man robbed: Charles Denella, 67, no address available, told city police that two white males approached him at 728 Henderson Ave. Friday afternoon and said if he valued his life he would give them money. Denella gave the two men $16.

Unauthorized use: Tracy Chechuck, 20, of 14 Shannon Ave., Washington, reported to police Friday that her bank card was used without her permission for $333 in transactions. She last used the card Thursday morning.

Robbery reported: Michael Peroney, 30, of 113 Springfield St., Washington, said a man asked him for a ride Friday evening while in a store at 375 W. Chestnut St. While they were riding on Route 40 West, the man pulled a gun on Peroney and stole $150 from him. The robber is described as a black man, 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

Man stabbed: Michael Sawicky, 44, of 35 Half Moon Road, Scenery Hill, was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh after being assaulted in the 300 block of Houston Street Saturday morning. Police said Sawicky was stabbed below the right breast. They have a suspect in the incident. A spokeswoman at the hospital had no information on Sawicky.

Man charged: Eli Solis Taylor, 24, of 439 Extension Ave., was lodged in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of children, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

Police received a complaint at 9:30 p.m. Saturday that Taylor was harassing a neighbor and her guests, challenging them to fight and yelling obscenities. Taylor contacted emergency dispatch, police said, claiming that neighbors were threatening to stab him. Taylor went inside his home behind a locked door, but police entered and found him in bed. Police ordered him to roll over, but he is charged with kicking an officer in the chest and he continued to struggle when he was taken into custody. Police said Taylor was visibly intoxicated, and he was responsible for the care of two minors who were in the home.

Harassment charge: William Harriston of 261 Locust Ave., Apt. 6, Washington, was cited for harassment by police after striking Amy Heiserman of 255 Locust Ave., Apt. 2, Washington, in the face Saturday morning.

Burglary reported: Joe Lucy of 603 N. Main St., Washington, returned home Saturday morning to find a computer, television and cash missing.

Bank fraud: Christie Anderson, 28, of 113 Springfield St., Washington, told police Saturday that her bank card had been used without her permission twice in April.

Robbery reported: Michael Cronkhite, 53, of 556 W. Chestnut St., Washington, said two men in a car threatened him with a knife for money Saturday afternoon. The men said they also had a gun. They made off with $60.

Hit by bottle: Samantha L. Peterson, 20, of 40 Bel Air Drive, Apt. M, Canton Township, was cited for harassment for throwing a bottle from a car that struck Gina Sutton of 3939 Jefferson Ave., Hopewell Township, Saturday. Sutton told police she was walking in the 1000 block of West Chestnut Street when she was hit in the stomach.

Disorderly charge: Joshua Heirendt, 31, of 1469 Henderson Ave., Chartiers Township, was cited for disorderly conduct for hitting Patrick Hugtiey, 32, of 555 Broad St., Washington, in the face Saturday. Police said the incident occurred at 501 Jefferson Ave.

Theft reported: Ryan Chapman, 20, of Belle Vernon, told police that an iPod and related items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in a city parking lot Saturday.

Gun missing: Larry Roberts, 33, of 338 Liberty St., Washington, told police a 9mm handgun was taken from his vehicle Sunday. Roberts said he planned to return the gun to the store Monday.

Criminal mischief: Leon McClain Jr. of 254 Lincoln Terrace, Washington, will be cited by summons for criminal mischief for kicking in the taillight of a vehicle owned by Jared Ribel of Apt. 3, 420 E. Wheeling St., Washington, Sunday.
