Man pleads guilty in child-sex case

A Canonsburg man pleaded guilty Wednesday to having sex with a young girl.

Robert Brewer, 64, of 120 E. Pitt St., entered an open guilty plea to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors before Washington County Judge Janet Moschetta Bell.

An open plea means that Brewer's sentence is up to the discretion of the judge.

According to court records, Brewer had sex with the girl several times between August 2005 and September 2006 while she was 13 and 14.

Sentencing will be scheduled after Brewer undergoes a evaluation by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Board to determine if he is a sexually violent predator under Megan's law and after a presentence investigation is completed.



Vehicle strikes boy on bike in Charleroi

A 7-year-old boy suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday while riding his bicycle in downtown Charleroi.

Robert Thorpe of Charleroi was treated for brushburns at Mon Valley Hospital following the 4:20 p.m. accident at Seventh Street and Fallowfield Avenue, borough police said.

The boy steered his bike into the path of the car driven by Theresa Fordyce, 61, of Smock, police said.

Washington man pleads to sex assault

A Washington man admitted Thursday to sexually assaulting an 18-year-old man who passed out after drinking at a party.

Roger L. White, 48, of 790 Addison Ave., Apt. 2, pleaded guilty to sexual assault before Washington County Judge Paul Pozonsky.

In exchange for his plea, he was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison and will have to report his whereabouts with police for the remainder of his life in accordance with Megan's Law. Charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault were dismissed.

According to court records, the teenager was sleeping in a camper at 706 Enon Church Road in East Finley Township on July 30 when another man awoke him and told him about the assault.

White is to report Monday to begin his prison sentence.

Mon Valley Sewage Authority to meet

The Mon Valley Sewage Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the authority offices, 20 Washington St., MIDA Industrial Park, Donora.
