Commissioners OK grant WAYNESBURG - Greene County commissioners Thursday agreed to seek additional money from the Help America Vote Act grant. The county will receive $58,471, which represents interest accrued to date on the county's portion of the state grant. Money will be used for voting machine maintenance, accessibility issues and the possible purchase of additional voting machines. The commissioners also approved contracts with individuals and companies for entertainment at this year's Greene County Fair. They are Keystone V-8 Mini Tractor Pullers, Blackjack Monster Enterprises LLC, Decision Maker Inc., Croushore's Championship Demolition Derbies, Dennis D. Beach Custom Woodcarvings, Barn Yard Petting Zoo and Pony Rides and Power Pulling Productions LLC. In other business, the commissioners:
n Approved agreements for care and maintenance of 2,516 veterans' graves at 34 cemeteries throughout the county. The cost will be $10,059. n Approved municipal waste disposal service contracts with Arden Landfill Inc., USA South Hills Landfill Inc., Veolia ES Chestnut Valley Landfill Inc., Westmoreland Waste Sanitary Landfill, Seneca Landfill Inc., Tri County Landfill Inc., Lackawanna Transport Co. and Valero Terrestrial Corp. n Announced the Federal Aviation Administration has given approval for the Greene County Airport to be used for drag racing. The first race is scheduled for May 18.
