Warrant issued for man in sex case

This article has been read 2453 times.

A Bentleyville man is facing sex crime charges over accusations he fathered a child to a 14-year-old girl.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Timothy B. Adams, 25, of 998 Main St., after Washington County Children and Youth reported the case to state police in August 2008.

State police then ordered a paternity test that indicates Adams is the father of the child born in January 2008, court records show.

Police said Adams admitted during questioning that he met the girl while they both lived in Bentleyville Apartments and they dated for two months. He also confessed to fathering the child, police said.

The juvenile told police the relationship lasted more than a year and that she ran away with Adams until November 2007.

Adams, formerly of Clarksville, is charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault involving someone under age 16, indecent assault and corruption of a minor.

He was arrested on a separate warrant Friday charging him with felony retail theft over accusations he stole a $105 weed trimmer from Bentleyville Hardware last week.

Adams is in Washington County Jail on $30,000 bond set by District Judge Curt Thompson.
