Two local artists are featured on a new Christian CD that was released in March.

Bobby Giacometti of South Strabane and Leigh-Anne Yost of Canonsburg are featured on the CD "Unified by Grace, East Coast Unplugged Vol. 1."

They perform the song "Wishes," which Giacometti wrote in 2006.

He plays guitar while Yost provides the vocals and harmony. The CD was released by Quickstar Productions which has produced several other United by Grace CDs, including rock and unplugged volumes featuring artists from the West Coast or southern regions of the United States.

"I didn't expect it to go this far. I didn't expect it to be on a CD," Giacometti said of his song.

He had posted the song on his MySpace account where it was viewed by someone from the production company. He e-mailed Giacometti and asked permission to include it in the CD.

The goal of the CD is to raise money for anti-malarial medicines for a health clinic in Uganda. Several members of the production team took a mission trip to West Ankole with St. Timothy's Church of Catonsville, Maryland. There they found a clinic with one nurse serving a population of 2,000.

A member of the Meadowlands United Methodist Church, Giacometti serves as its lay pastor. He also is a guitarist with the local band Blind Date which has cut several CDs.

Giacometti and Yost met at work and when Giacometti saw Yost in a Jude Pohl production of the "Perry Como Christmas Show" he asked her to record the song. She, in turn, had Blind Date perform at her wedding.

They recorded "Wishes" at a local studio run by Jesse Hanson of Blue Home Recording in Cecil.

Unlike other Christian songs, the lyrics to "Wishes" do not include references to Jesus Christ or God. Instead, Giacometti writes of a woman who wishes to be pretty and a man wishing he had more money. The Christian message is what makes their lives complete compared to the homeless who just hope for food or shelter.

"Some times that's the better way to evangelize," he said.

Those interested in obtaining a copy of the CD can e-mail Giacometti at bobbyg4321@ yahoo.com. The song and CD also can be downloaded from the Amazon.com Web site.

"If it leads one person to Jesus Christ then it's worth it," Giacometti said.
