BURGETTSTOWN Theft from car: Heather Markley of 24 McClure Ave., Burgettstown, told state police Sunday that a thief entered her car and stole an iPod, XM radio and adapter. CANTON TOWNSHIP Radar detector stolen: Steve Kashuba of 120 Windsor Ave., Canton, told state police Tuesday that a radar detector was stolen from his unlocked vehicle.
Warrant arrest: Patrick M. Hughey, 32, of Washington, is in Washington County Jail on a bench warrant after an incident Tuesday on Hillside Avenue near Buena Vista Street, Canton. State police discovered he was wanted while investigating an incident involving Hughey and Joshua Shrader, 20, of Washington. The two men were talking when Shrader reportedly made a comment about Hughey's girlfriend, angering him. Hughey punched Shrader in the head, police said. Hughey will be charged with harassment.
CECIL TOWNSHIP Manhole covers stolen: Two cast-iron manhole covers owned by Cecil Township Municipal Authority were stolen from Route 980 near the border with Canonsburg before Monday night, township police said. The covers are valued at $150 each. The theft was reported at 8 a.m. Wednesday. DONEGAL TOWNSHIP Ball fields damaged: Donegal police said four of five ball fields at Claysville Community Park, Beham Ridge Road, were damaged when a vehicle was driven through them Friday. Diesel fuel stolen: A truck driver pumped 162 gallons of diesel fuel into his rig, valued at $801, and then drove off from the Exit 6 Petro without paying Saturday, Donegal police said. The driver entered false information to activate the pumps. The truck was a purplish-blue Volvo. NOTTINGHAM TOWNSHIP Theft: State police reported that tools belonging to Wal Mar Inc. Contractors of Hidden Valley were stolen from a construction site on Dyers Stone Road between 4:30 p.m. May 22 and 7 a.m. Tuesday. SOMERSET TOWNSHIP
Driver escapes injury: Dustin Menhart, 34, of Fort Bragg, N.C., escaped injury Monday when his vehicle rolled onto its driver's side after he swerved to avoid a deer on Bigler Road near Sara Lane, Somerset, state police said. WASHINGTON Puppy nabbed: A 10-week old chocolate Labrador retriever puppy was reported stolen from the backyard of the home of Joshua Wine, 184 Quarry Ave., Washington police said. The female puppy named "Daisy" has a white spot on her chest and white feet. The dog's disappearance from a fenced-in yard was reported at 9:40 a.m. Sunday. Vandalism reported: Black paint was sprayed on a garage at 10 E. Katherine Ave., Washington police said. The vandalism was discovered early Monday. Also, an outside mirror was reported knocked off a car owned by David Milhollan of 61 W. Prospect St. Thursday, and the sidewalls of three tires were punctured on a car owned by Brandy Cushey of 134 Jollick Manor overnight Sunday, causing an estimated $320 damage. Washington police said damage was done to the steering column and ignition switch of a car owned by Douglas Bush of 38 W. Prospect St. early Sunday, and a man was seen standing on the roof of a car owned by Melissa Russell of 108 Donahoe St., Avella, while the car was parked in a lot on Ewing Street about 10 p.m. Sunday. Thefts reported: A 46-inch flat-screen television valued at $4,000, $400 in change and a child's piggy bank containing $40 were reported stolen Tuesday morning in a burglary at the home of Christine Fedd, 1145 W. Chestnut St. Washington police said $500 in $50 bills was stolen from an envelope at the home of Tony Gump, 40 W. Prospect St. That report was filed at 7 p.m. Friday. Also, a 22-inch Craftsman lawn mower was reported stolen Monday afternoon from the home of Caleb Ramey, 710 Broad St., and a cell phone was reported missing Saturday evening from the home of Nichole Allen, 640 Maple Terrace. Two hanging baskets of flowers valued at $35 each were stolen Friday from the front porch of the Rush House Bed and Breakfast, 810 E. Maiden St. Woman charged: Jennifer McFall, 25, of 114 Hamilton St., Washington, was charged with disorderly conduct, accused of throwing rocks at a building on West Wheeling Street shortly after midnight Wednesday. Criminal mischief charge: A 16-year-old Washington boy was charged with criminal mischief Tuesday for allegedly smashing the glass screen door window at the home of Robert Noble, 805 Addison Ave., at 9:10 p.m. Police said the teen came to Noble's door asking to use the bathroom. When Noble denied him access and closed the door, he heard the glass shatter and the teen tried to force his way into the house. Harassment charge: James Grayson, 29, of 215 S. Wade Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday with harassment for making calls to his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Schultz, 23, of 700 Fayette St., police said. Items stolen: Tonna Parker of 240 Linn Ave. reported to police that her home had been burglarized between Friday and Tuesday while she was out of town. Parker said eight gold chains and emblems, valued between $1,000 and $1,500, were stolen. Theft reported: Paul Satterfield of 70 W. Prospect St. reported that a camcorder, GPS system, compressor, generator, cordless drills, socket set and electrical meters were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked outside his home between Friday and Tuesday. The items were valued at $2,400, police said. Purse stolen: Monica Ringer of 72 Mill St., Washington, reported that her purse was stolen from her vehicle shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday while it was parked on Baird Avenue, police reported. |
