McMURRAY – A Peters Township police officer will be on duty at the township high school for the remainder of the school year.

Peters Township Council on Monday agreed to a request by the school district to post an officer at the high school beginning today and for the 17 days remaining in the school year.

Township Manager Michael Silvestri said the school district made the request and that two officers will alternate duty at the school. He said the district will be charged $31.66 per hour to cover the salaries of the officers.

Peters Township Police Chief Harry Fruecht said “they are concerned about the recent event and also other things going on up there.”
