Numerous people appeared recently in Washington County Court on criminal charges.

Appearing before Judge Paul Pozonsky were:

Christopher Painter, 26, of 5 Knox Ave., Monessen; no contest to defiant trespass and criminal mischief, guilty of burglary; charged for stealing tools from Riverview Apartments, 620 Locust Lane, Apt. 9, North Charleroi, on May 7, 2008, and for trespassing at Riverview Apartments, 620 Locust Lane, Apt. 8, North Charleroi, on April 11; sentence - 6 to 23 months in jail.

Rae Ann Strimel, 40, of 136 Latimer Ave., Strabane; no contest to reckless endangerment; charged Oct. 13 following a vehicle accident on Pike Street in Houston; sentence - 12 months of probation.

Appearing before Judge Janet Moschetta Bell were:

Todd D. Kearns, 38, of 258 Hull Road, Waynesburg; second driving-under-the-influence offense; charged Oct. 18 following a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue in Canton Township with a 0.142 percent blood-alcohol content; sentence - 60 days to 6 months in jail with the minimum sentence served on electronic home monitoring, SCRAM, $750 fine, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver's license suspension.

Stephen R. McCann, 49, of 23 Shinn Hill, Joffre, altered/forged documents, reckless endangerment; charged Sept. 6 at Ducky's Car Wash in Smith Township; sentence - 4 to 23 months in jail.

Ronnell Baron, 38, of 1859 Main St., Allenport; no contest to a first DUI offense; charged May 24, 2008, following a vehicle accident on Fallowfield Avenue in Charleroi, refusing BAC testing; sentence - 3 days to 6 months in jail, $1,000 fine, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver's license suspension.

Three people were admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program for first-time offenders. If they successfully complete the program, they can petition the court to have their records expunged.

Christopher C. Harris, 20, of 530 Overhill Drive, North Versailles, was admitted for 12 months for possession of drug paraphernalia. Charged Oct. 2 following a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in North Strabane Township.

Jonathan J. Amon, 21, of 490 S. Palm St., North Franklin Township, was admitted for 12 months for theft by deception. Charged April 2 for stealing items and then trying to return them for gift cards at Wal-Mart in South Strabane Township.

Catherine Everley, 30, of 241 Meldon Ave., Donora, was admitted for 12 months for false reports. She was charged Oct. 29 for falsely reporting that her ATM card was stolen from her home.

Appearing before Judge John DiSalle were:

Jeffrey S. Skinner, 48, of 6 Jones St., Canonsburg; first DUI offense; charged Nov. 19, 2007, following a two vehicle accident on South Central Avenue in Canonsburg with a 0.116 percent BAC; sentence - 20 days to 6 months in jail, $2,500 in fines, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver's license suspension.

Nicole M. Davis, 22, of 269 Railroad St., Finleyville; forgery, theft by unlawful taking; charged for using two stolen gift cards at Sheetz in Monongahela on March 19, and for stealing checks from her mother and cashing them for $1,756 in October; sentence - 23 months of probation.

Laurenti J. Robertson, 18, of 615 Locust St., Monessen; possession of marijuana; charged March 4 following a traffic stop on Fallowfield Avenue in Charleroi; sentence - Probation Without Verdict for 30 days.

Kelley J. Cowden, 24, of 12 Lincoln St., Bulger; bad checks, criminal conspiracy; charged Nov. 12 for stealing checks from 11 7 Orchard St., McDonald, and cashing them; sentence - Intermediate Punishment Program for 23 months with the first 3 months of intensive supervision.

Robert L. Metcalf Jr., 31, of Crucible; possession of drug paraphernalia, second DUI offense, driving with a suspended license DUI-related; charged Jan. 22, 2004, following a traffic stop at Morton Street and Ferry Avenue in Millsboro with a .128 BAC; sentence - 180 days to 4 months in jail, $1,500 in fines, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver's license suspension.

John F. McFalls, 21, of 523 Weaver Ave., Canonsburg; tampering with evidence; charged March 14 for throwing a needle out of a car window during a traffic stop on McConnell Road in Cecil; sentence - 12 months of probation.

Chad Allen Stepp, 31, of 189 Castile Ridge Road, Marianna; possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia; charged March 7 in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in South Strabane Township; sentence - 6 months of probation.

Timothy J. Phillips, 42, of 205 Roosevelt St., North Franklin Township; receiving stolen property; charged Dec. 18 for selling stolen scrap metal to Canon Mac Metals in North Strabane Township; sentence - 6 months of probation.

Six people were admitted to the ARD program.

Rosemarie O. Lewecki, 62, of 84 Chubbic Road, Canonsburg, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. She was charged Dec. 7 following a one-vehicle crash on Weavertown Road in North Strabane Township.

James Jackson II, 56, of 99 Clay/Taylor Ridge Road, Claysville, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. He was charged Sept. 15 following a traffic stop on Morganza Road in North Strabane Township.

Debra Divine, 43, of 110 Bittersweet Circle, Venetia, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. She was charged Nov. 11 following a traffic stop on East McMurray Road in Peters Township.

Jason A. Dotts, 35, of 112 North St., Rices Landing, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. He was charged Sept. 25 following a traffic stop on Baily Road in Centerville.

James J. Caldwell III, 40, of 213A Washington Ave., Midway, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. He was charged Jan. 16 following a traffic stop on East Lincoln Avenue in McMurray.

Robert M. Ventura Jr., 37, of 347 First St. Rear, Lawrence, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. He was charged Aug. 29 following a traffic stop on Southpointe Boulevard in Cecil.

No wonder Washington has a drug problem. Judgesin Washington throw the book at minor offenders and give the dealers and crackheads probation.
