Ramon's game-winner in 9th ends Wild Things' rally
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Washington Wild Things rallied from a four-run deficit to tie East Division leading Kalamazoo in the late innings Monday night only to lose, 7-6, on Amos Ramon's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Brendan Murphy led off the bottom of the ninth with a single for the Kinds (24-12) as the Kings got to the Wild Things' bullpen.
Ramon capped a good night with the game-winning hit. He went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

After Kalamazoo stormed to a 5-1 lead of Wild Things starter Zach Groh, who pitched three scoreless innings but only went 4 1/3 innings and gave up nine hits, Washington started chipping away.
Jacob Dempsey's RBI groundout scored Phil Laurent, who homered and tripled, to get within 5-2. Then, after the Kinds added another run, Washington scored four in the eighth.
An Ernie Banks RBI single made the score, 6-3, before Grant Psomas hit a three-run home run to tie the game.
Kings starting pitcher John Brownell struck out seven of the first 10 batters he faced. Brownell struck out a career-high 11 in six innings.
Laurent's solo home run gave Washington a 1-0 lead in the fourth but Kalamazoo scored five times in the bottom half of the inning. One of those runs came on a Tim Brown solo home run.
The Wild Things return home for the start of a three-game series against Florence. Tonight's game starts at 7:05 p.m.
