Former haunted house in Bentleyville destroyed by fire
It took firefighters about five hours to bring the blaze under control and were still dousing hot spots early this morning. The several-story wooden building has been abandoned for several years.
The state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters are keeping watch at the building around the clock because it may be unstable.

One filthy ugly eyesore was created in Bentleyville and never rehabilitated or torn down. It ends up burning after years of neglect. Meanwhile the ugly eyesore moves to Beallsville, and next that'll be abandoned without any rehabilitiation. And so the pattern continues from these irresponsible operators. How could we let these irresponsible business owners operate like that?

I hope they decide to tear the building down, I think it is a shame that there are so many abandoned buildings in Bentleyville and Ellsworth.

official statement : 6/4/2009
On the morning of June 3, 2009 a building in Bentleyville, PA that formerly housed the Castle Blood Haunted Attraction caught fire and has been determined to be a total loss. This building has not been in operation as an attraction since the close of the 1997 season and the attraction returned to its original location in Beallsville, PA in 1998. The interior itself had been decommissioned with attraction elements and maze-like corridors removed. In 2008, sale of the building to Powell Transmissions was completed. The sign remaining on the building had been used as a billboard to promote the attraction at its present location approximately four miles from Bentleyville. Since 1993, Castle Blood has operated safely and in compliance with local and state authorities. In 2006, Castle Blood officially registered as an attraction in compliance with guidelines overseen by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and is in good standing today. Presently, the attraction’s PA Certified Amusement Inspectors also offer their services as consultants and instructors for safety and compliance issues on local, state, and international levels. The Beallsville attraction is presently being refurbished and updated for the 2009 season. As always and if requested, Castle Blood will be happy to assist state and local authorities regarding any further information on this event.
