Peters man indicted on child porn charge
The U.S. attorney’s office announced Tuesday that Aaron R. Martens, 33, of 116 Druid Drive, McMurray, was indicted for allegedly having a flash drive that contained about 1,500 images of child pornography.
According to the affidavit filed against Martens, he has two prior convictions for possession of child pornography while serving in the military. He received a 28-month prison sentence for a 2001 arrest and a 42-month sentence for a 2004 arrest and is a registered sex offender under Megan’s Law.
The affidavit states that representatives of the Sanford-Brown Institute, a Pittsburgh technical school Martens was attending, informed the FBI that he was suspected of using school computers to view child pornography. School officials said they had received complaints from others at the school who observed Martens viewing pornography.
