Child rapist sentenced to 50 to 100 years in prison
A Monongahela man will spend the next 50 years in prison for raping two young girls over a seven-year period.
Danny Ray Cintella, 50, of 104 Fourth St., was convicted of a plethora of criminal charges March 19 by a jury following a trial before Washington County Judge John DiSalle.

The former part-time Donora police officer also was declared a sexually violent predator following an evaluation by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board. Subsequently, Cintella will be required to register his whereabouts for the remainder of his life after parole in accordance with Megan's Law. He also will have to register his DNA and fingerprints under the federal Adam Walsh Act and is subject to the state's Jessica Law.
Cintella was charged in October 2007 for assaulting the older girl from March 2000 through November 2001. The incidents began when she was 12 years old. The girl is now 21.
He was also charged for assaulting the younger girl from 2002 to 2007. The incidents began when the girl was 11 years old. She is now 18.
Both girls were in court for his sentencing. Only the younger victim made a statement.
"Why? Why did you do it?" asked the girl. "You have caused me a lifetime of pain."
The girl added, "I know there's good in you, but why can't you show that?"
Afterward, Cintella sat staring at the girls and their family members, who sat in the back of the courtroom.
He turned forward when his parents, Darla and Ronald Cintella, and sister, Rhonda Augustoni, addressed the judge and asked for leniency.
"My son has always been a good person. He has always maintained love and consideration in our family," said Cintella's mother. "I will be left without a son who I love so very much."
Cintella refused to address the court on his own behalf prior to sentencing.
Assistant District Attorney Traci McDonald asked the court to impose the maximum sentence. Meanwhile, Cintella's attorney, Christopher Blackwell, argued that there were no aggravating factors that would support such an imposition.
DiSalle disputed Blackwell's claims by referring to the victims' young age and the number of times they were subjected to the crimes.
"This went on for a period of years," said DiSalle. "And not all of the incidents are reflected in the charges."
DiSalle also pointed out that while Cintella was out on bail awaiting trial, he violated protection-from-abuse orders against him on three occasions. And, the judge said, "His conduct while on bail was not exactly stellar."
