Fast-pitch softball

Kaitlyn Coles struck out 13 and tossed a three-hitter as the Washington Wild Fire shut out the Waynesburg Thunder, 1-0, in the NSA Qualifier for the 16-Under Division in Morgantown, W.Va., Friday.

Caitlyn Dengler singled in the only run of the game in the sixth inning. Brittany Orndoff doubled for the Wild Fire. The Thunder did not have an extra-base hit.

The Washington 14-Year-Old All-Stars won three games in the Beast of the East Tournament in Wheeling, W.Va. Washington topped Marietta, Ohio, 14-3, Dover, Ohio, 11-2 and Brad Mar Pines 18-2.

Against Marietta, winning pitcher Jason Vankirk doubled and cracked a three-run home run. Christian Koroly, Corey Hunsberger, Nick Riotto and Michael Stone each had a double.

In the win over Dover, winning pitcher Riotto doubled and tripled. Koroly doubled and Matt Brower hit a three-run home run.

Against Brad Mar Pines, Jaylin Kelly hit two triples and Riotto doubled and tripled. Hunsberger and Stone each had a double.
